First thing: one tournament means nothing. Variance in MTTs is brutal, especially as you move up. Don’t judge your level based on one result.
If your goal is to get “in the prizes zone” more consistently, here are a few practical adjustments:
- Tighten up early. At new stakes, avoid marginal spots until you get comfortable with the player pool.
- Respect stack sizes near the bubble. Pay attention to who’s trying to ladder and who’s abusing it.
- Study push/fold ranges for 15–25bb stacks — that’s where a lot of tournaments are won or lost.
- Avoid unnecessary hero calls. At these levels, population tends to under-
bluff in big spots.
- Review your bust-out hand every time. Ask: was it variance, or was there a better line?
Also, make sure your
bankroll supports the level. Moving up is great, but staying comfortable mentally is even more important.
