If a person wants to be a professional player at poker online, playing tournaments, how many tournaments would he/she need to play at minimum to be profitable(assuming the person is making good decisions in general)?

How many hands per month, and how many tables simultaneously to achieve that number?

I ask that here because I believe there are players on this forum that are currently living from poker, so I would like to hear the opinion of someone that actually practices what he's saying and that is implementing these numbers in daily basis, if that is possible of course.

The reason why I ask is because I feel a certain difficulty to play more than 4 screens at once, and I know that that's probably not enough.
Moreover if you have any tips on configurations, macros, setups, etc...

Thank you very much.

Multitabling is pain unless you are very good at the game or are a nit. If you want to go for volume just late reg five times a day.

Большое спасибо.
There is no minimum number of tournaments after which an online poker player is guaranteed to start making a profit; instead, it's important to have a long distance, that is, playing thousands and tens of thousands of tournaments so that the average score shows you're profitable in a big fight. The ratio of your winnings to buy-ins is certain, and it takes a huge number of games to get statistically significant results.

For me, 4 tables is the maximum. I've tried several tables, but I don't have time to think about my decisions. It's true that I don't live by playing poker.

Nowadays, since I'm not playing at a high level, I always play an average of 4 to 6 screens.
We gradually get used to the number of screens, depending on what we study. In a scenario with many screens, you have to already know the best solutions for the plays you face. We don't have time for a lot of analysis, and we need to hone our focus.

When I was playing for a team in the micro stakes, I averaged 300 to 500 games per month, and I always tried to do a little more, as the variance within these limits is very high.

To help with screen organization, there are tools like StarsCaption and Jurojin. Sometimes I use Jurojin because it has some helpful features, like screen organization and some free layers. But depending on the configuration, it doesn't look as good.

A screen organizer really helps, especially when we reach a limit of 10 to 12 simultaneous screens, or more.

Finally, my tip is regarding studying: warm up before grinding and gradually increase the number of screens so as not to lose the quality of your game. This is very easy to happen, especially when our mental state isn't working well. A bad situation at one table can't affect overall performance.

Good luck, and I hope this helps.

If you latereg in MTTs in the final minutes of late registration you will be able to grind much more tourneys with less time required per one and with bigger edge (unless it is bounty, never latereg to bounty tournaments), but to do it profitably you need to study shortstack ICM well, otherwise you will just tank your bankroll.

I have problems to play 2 tables at once so I enjoy the game better with only one. I think I saw Fedor Holtz talking about 8 tables to 16 at once in his run for greatness.

Here in brazil, we have some athletes who, at the beginning of their careers, could play almost 30 tables simultaneously.
But as I said before, it's always good to have this number set at a comfortable level so the player can perform their A game to the best of their ability for as long as possible. It's also pointless for a player to be at their best for 30-40 minutes and then it just gets complicated.
This is something we must always analyze, even on days when we're not at 100%, we need to reevaluate these numbers for that day.

I'd go crazy over something like that.
But the player is also one of the game's legends.

Its obviously depends on your winrate and the stakes played as well as your living costs. If you are good enough to beat super high rollers, and have low living costs, then maybe its fine to only play 1 table at a time. But realistically if you are going to work your way up through the stakes, then you probably want to eventually be able to play more than 4, and you want to install your gaming computer on a desk with two monitors. Personally I play up to 5-6 tables on a laptop, but I am not trying to make a living from poker.

These points are really important:
  • If you aim to make a living from poker;
  • If you have a low cost of living;

And I would also include time as part of this, because just like with the winrate... It will be a long journey until you see your bankroll grow or manage to make it comfortable.

These points are really cool and important to always consider in your short- and long-term goals/objectives.

2 for me or maybe 3 at most, not all of which are necessarily tournaments, if I feel on a roll. Otherwise 1-2 is my second best guess.

Today I was playing 7 tables at the same time, 1 on GG Poker
5 on 888Poker and 1 on Replay. It had been a while since I'd played so many tables, lately it had been a maximum of 5.
I've played up to 12 tables, but my level of concentration has decreased these days.

My dream is to get back to my previous level, but because my vision is only 20%, the screens and concentration are very tiring.

I hope to soon return to my usual 8 screens...

It depends on how much 'is a living' for you.

Honestly you'll want to work up to being able to 12-table MTT's & putting in 25-30 mtt's per day.

I usually play at 3 tables at a time, more than that seems too much to study the players and take notes on their behavior and actions.

Everything comes gradually, play on how many tables, as long as you think that you are playing the best game, gradually increasing, the main thing is that you will get it

I play two tables at a time. Sometimes I tried playing three tables, but that's quite difficult for me. I think that over the next year I'll be able to gradually add one more table.

2-3 of the Spin and HU tables are comfortable, where I can bring my A game. 7-8 of the Tournament tables are the maximum, but if I get to FT somewhere, I don't open a new one until I finish there.

There were times when I played six tables simultaneously on two monitors. Currently, I play 2-4 tables on one larger monitor.
