i recommend a conservative defending in a multi-table tournament. It involves a tight and risk-averse strategy, particularly in later stages, where players defend their big blind with only their strongest hands. This approach prioritizes minimizing losses and protecting stack size due to tournament payout structures, even if it means passing up profitable spots. Key tactics include check-calling with strong hands or folding weaker hands on later streets rather than continuing with marginal hands. With more and more confidence, i agree to an relentless aggressive-style. But from my experience, it takes much practice and patience.

The more skilled you are at the game, the better you can broaden your ranges. With BB single-color cards, you can defend almost everything. You always play out of position there, so it's better to 3bet or fold, but it depends on the stack size, the table, and your opponents. You still need to learn 3bet ranges. MTT defense ranges can get tricky since they depend a lot on stack depth, position, and the tendencies of your table. In general, I try to defend a bit tighter from the small blind and wider from the big blind, especially against late-position opens. Suited connectors and broadways usually perform well if you’re getting a good price.

If you’re just starting to build your ranges, I recommend checking out some free preflop charts from sites like Upswing or Raise Your Edge - they’re a good baseline, but honestly, adjusting based on how aggressive your opponents are will always beat following charts blindly.

The shorter you are, the more you want to defend your hands, start with that and then your game will go on its own
