Something tournament poker has taught me about cash games.

Cash game regulars, which I have become until yesterday, tend to play the cards and the pot proportions more than the PEOPLE, but tournaments have taught me a lot about abusing weak players.

Your cards matter a lot less than I thought if you actually play properly against passive players. Your aggression matters a lot less than I thought after the turn card shows and much more than I thought before the turn card.

I am learning a lot about being cutthroat and it is opening my mind. I believe I can profit more from cash games because I am learning how to play with bad hands a lot more now.

Maybe the reason is that in the tournament you will almost always play with the one in the cache called the middle, short and very short stack? The 100 BBs in the tournament will be either at the very beginning of the game (and not in every tournament), or after several successful hands, but then the rest of the players at the table will be much less than you. Playing with a short stack, you should often make aggressive decisions with a very wide range of cards. This is a useful practice.

I agree that learning to play bad hands is something everyone has to do, but i also like playing cash/tourney games with GOOD/best cards unless i am in a vulnerable position.

• Why do you suppose aggression matters more before the turn and less after?
• How does the turn change hand values and continuing ranges?
• Based on this hypothesis, what should your betting/raising range be and what should your check/calling range look like?
• What sort of situations will hand values be unimportant in and which situations will they be a primary concern?

Well, tourneys helps for earning the experience but I never play tourneys and cash games on the same way. I don't play every tourney on the same way. There are many factors that decide how will I play that day and that tourney.

Ultimately, your game should depend on who you are playing with. If a player often folds, then you have to put pressure on him.

If it's helping your cash game then that's awesome. This is a basic strategy that should absolutely be incorporated into you whatever game you're playing. Labeling players properly will help you in all poker games. Also remember your own image and the image you would like the others to perceive.

Playing with a short stack in tournaments forces you to play hands you may not if you have 100 plus bigs. This has improved my ability to raise any 2 in position. This has increased my win rate for sure.
