6-max or full ring?

I'm relatively new to cash games. I'm more used to playing short stacked sng tournaments than playing deep stacked cash. I've mostly been playing 6-max and buying in with 100bb. I'll be playing .25/.50 for starters. Any input on which game might be better for me would be appreciated, thanks.

Depends on how may tables you have open. If you trying to multi table with 4 or more tables, then 6 max is probably not your best choice.

Taking multi-tabling away from the scenario, I would choose "6 max" over "full ring" any day. I find that at 6 max, this is where you can truely test your skill as a poker player and if you have a great understanding of the game where you are able to read players easily, you will find yourself making the most profit here.

Я с банкролом от 1.5к вообще не вижу смысла их играть, тут 2 варианта либо набивать дальше банкролл для туриков 20+. Набивать скажем в 3.5$ rebuy на 180 тел, либо 4.5 freezeout на 180 тел. Или вообще пока раскидать банкролл по говнорумам и играть там турики на 250-400 тел опять же пока не набьёшь банкрол для туриков 20+ на старзах. думаю с банкролом 5к можно возвращаться и играть мтт на старзах.

This is a good point. I was thinking that the inability to have stats on players at bovada might make the full ring games better than the 6max. Since in the 6 max people really tend to mix it up and you never know who your playing and players come and go quite frequently. I'm finding it quite hard to make confident reads on people with the anon dynamic.. I'm usually four or five tabling. I don't find that to be too hard to keep up with, even shorthanded.

6 max is a much more aggressive game and you pay the blinds 50% more often then full ring. Consequently winrates are lower for almost all players. The flip side of this is that you play more hands per hour and if you're suited to an aggressive style you'll find many more profitable opportunities to get involved. In 6 max you're never far from the button or cutoff.

I like to play a mix of full ring and 6 max. I usually play 6 tables and like to split them evenly when I can. That said, full ring is a dying format and it is often hard to find a game; especially where I play at Carbon/ Merge.

I enjoy 6 max more than full ring, but there's nothing wrong with playing good ole fashioned TAG to dominate at full ring.

6Max for SNG's, maybe full ring for .25/.50, more chance of a fish in the pool.

I'm a 6 max fan generally, but like the Jackpots games at WPN, which are 3 max.

Since none of us has much patience for full ring where it is not such a stretch to be card dead for 5 or 6 orbits. I find that at 6 max it is easier to evaluate the competition, and thus really play poker more than playing the cards.

I'm pretty patient but i'm not afraid to play poker either. I like to play more hands but I'm only really concerned with what's more profitable for me. I think that playing full ring is better for me at bovada. IMO it gives more time to pick up information on the annonymous opponents. In 6max I just want to think everyone is loosey goosey because you're more often in position and I find it harder to keep track of how many hands they are playing or how many is too many. I think in full ring it's a lot more obvious when someone is playing too many hands.

I like to play on 9-max tables. Reason: more players put their money in the bank. To 6-max tables I sit rarely and play very tight.

I also like playing 6 max more than 9 max.. But at the moment 9 max seems to be more profitable for me so I'm playing them. Also most of the tournaments are 9 max and at least for me it's easier to change from cash games to tournaments when both are 9 max.

Itt realy depends by the size of the bankroll. With short BR full ring is better!

The reason why I suggest FR to new players is because there is lower variance and you can play less hands, profitably. In a 6max games there is more pressure to open up your range and be conscious of your opponents. In a FR game you won't win/lose as rapidly so you can really get a "feel" for how cash plays. Honestly, I find FR boring but for the people who are patient it can be even more profitable than 6max.

I think it depends what player U are. If u are tight play 9-max. If u are more agressive play 6max.

I've got a ways to go before i start loosing action in full ring games. But I'm willing to go wherever my bankroll takes me! Do you find this true of any particular site or just in general?

I'd say in general because there are less people that can post a $10 big blind online haha. More money at stake the less players available to play against IMO.

Adapting from SnG to FullRing is easier. I suggest you making a more conservative bankroll management to play 6 max, since the swings are probably deeper given the looser and more aggressive game, specially for someone in the transition to the game. 6-max require deeper understanding of post flop play than both Full Ring and SnG, and starting hand selection is looser most of the games.
