Welcome to the Cash Games forum!

A brief summary of what should and shouldn't be posted here, so that we can hopefully keep having to move threads around to a minimum.

What should be posted here:

Any questions regarding specific strategies or strategic concepts relating to specifically to cash games. This could include, but is not limited to:
  • Psychological questions and advice (i.e. topics regarding tilt, ego, etc.)
  • Meta-game concepts and theories
  • Position play
  • Table selection
  • Bankroll Management
  • Live cash game session strategy discussion (either private home games or in casinos)
What should not be posted here:
  • Anything that is prohibited by the rules
  • Hand analysis. Use the Cash Game Hand Analysis sub-forum for any particular hands you would like analyzed, and be sure to read the sticky threads there first for more advice.
  • Bad beats or vents. These belong in Bad Beats and Vents.
  • Personal progress, goals, or challenge threads. Post those here: Get a Game Going/Rail Requests
  • More generalized poker learning topics that do not specifically apply to cash games. Post those in Learning Poker.

My advice here is to watch the table for a couple of orbits before sitting down. You can see the table dynamics a bit before sitting to play. If you struggle with a certain style of play you may want to look into strategies to counter problematic styles.

starting in NHL 2

Hello good mornig for everyone! I am from Argentina and recently started playing at poker star winning 0.03 in a freeroll now I have $ 20 playing spin and go 0.25. Little by little I am getting into the regular NHL 2 tables. Do I need more money or will I have 20? Is there any special time in the day to play better or does the time influence? :):)

I’m conservate at BRM. At NLHE I had at least 75 buy ins. Now playing PLO I go by 100 buy ins, since the hands run closer and the volatility is higher.

How much is enough when buying into a $1/$2 NL cash game when some of the stacks are $1K+ and the average is maybe $500?

Bad beats are the toughest part of poker for me. I know variance is part of the game, but it still stings when you lose with AA against some wild hand that hits a miracle river. I’ve noticed that when I don’t take a break after a bad beat, I start playing emotionally and chasing losses—that’s when tilt kicks in. I’m trying to build a routine to reset mentally after those moments. What do you guys do to stay calm and avoid tilt after a brutal beat? Any tips or rituals that help you refocus?
It made me lose my entire stack—that’s when I say this game isn’t for me. I almost smashed my phone out of frustration

Thanks for putting this together. I’m still learning cash games seriously, so having clear guidelines on what belongs here is actually very helpful.

I’ve made the mistake before of posting things in the wrong section, so it’s good to know where strategy discussions, mindset topics, and hand analysis should go. Focusing this forum on concepts like position and bankroll management makes a lot of sense.

Looking forward to reading more cash game discussions here and learning from experienced players.
