the check raise from aggressive guys

What do you do when you have position on an aggressive (but not maniac) guy and you get check raised on a fairly dry board?

Let's say you have QQ with position on him. He called preflop from BB, and check raises on a board of K23 with 2 suited cards?

Ugh.. not the board you want.. I'd call, but now you're doubting whether or not you have the best hand..

it would be based on his play previously.. but let's assume you've seen a lot of raggedy hands out of the guy.. If he's got an ace he may think it's an automatic winner.. so maybe you get lucky.. and push him off his chair..

I wouldn't have c-betted post flop. Probably checking and seeing what he does first and than go from there. Hand history would also help.

Check/call flop, call turn, call river I think. If he is aggressive like you say.

Thanks for posting that. I like that concept. I know that I've been burned for being too aggressive at times and I like this approach.

At what point does the benefits of getting villain to fold his equity share outweigh the drawback of being WA/WB?

i.e instead of QQ on a king high board we hold 99 on a King high board.

QQ is far less likely to be outdrawn on a King high board than 99.

@Stu. I think about that question frequently, and suppose there is some math somewhere. But this seems to be HEAVILY player dependent to me as well.

I'm saying I would bet 99/TT to pick up the dead money in the pot and take away the equity our opponent has when he holds a couple overs to our hand.

So the flop is the same K23 and we cbet 99 to take the pot now from our opponent who has lots of hands like AJ/AQ/QJ/QT/JT (that's 70 combos) that have ~25% equity. Also if those hands call it's still a value bet (assuming we can get to SD without getting bluffed off our hand).

Ok,
Without stats on villain and a hand history it's hard to give the best answer but you have a single pair, there is an overcard on the board and you have position on a villain you describe as 'aggressive'.

Two things come to mind:

1. small hands, small pots
2. the biggest advantage of position is the ability to control the pot.

I'm checking behind and reevaluating on the turn. If the turn is an Ace or another K I'm folding to aggression but otherwise lots of Ax flush draws here. Ideally I think we want to see a J or T (or Queen!) on the turn. If we hit our 2 outer on the turn I'm shoving over any bet. If the turn is a total brick and he fires again I'm probably check/folding here. If the turn is a J or T and the river is a brick I'm calling anything up to pot sized bet as there are lots of busted draws we beat.
