There is a saying: "if you can't spot a looser at the table within 15 minutes, you are the looser". What are your proven methods for spotting a weak player at the table, apart from a high VPIP ratio or betting non-standard bets (5bb). Feel free to share your experience.

For me, the easiest way to spot weaker players is to watch how they react when the situation suddenly changes.
A good player adjusts the plan a weak one just keeps calling because “they already put chips in.”

I also pay attention to timing tells:
instant calls in tough spots or snap-bets on scary boards usually mean they’re not thinking about ranges, just their own cards.

After a few hands you can clearly see who has a strategy and who’s just clicking buttons.

He only focuses on his own cards and fails to adjust his strategy based on the style of the other players or the community cards on the board

People who play too many hands, and bluff too often, are hard to play against, and when they are running good, can ruin you.
I think a loose player, who is impatient and doesn't know how to fold, is always the fish.

For me, the biggest tells aren’t stats, but patterns. Weak players usually make the same mistakes over and over. Things like calling too wide preflop and then playing fit-or-fold on the flop, or calling river bets way too often “just to see it.”

I also pay attention to bet sizing — random sizes with no clear logic, especially on turns and rivers, are a big red flag. Another giveaway is how they react to aggression: many weak players either shut down completely or suddenly overplay one big hand.

You don’t need 15 minutes if you’re watching closely. A few showdowns and reactions to pressure usually tell you everything.

When I sit down at the table, I watch each of my eight opponents play. If they don't play well, I note it right away and make a note. If they play well, I'll offer them a smart move. People have different styles of play. We need to figure out how to play against each of them.

If I see a player that limps a lot it's a big indicator that the player is pretty weak, also I don't put a weak/bad player 'tag' on a very LAG player(high VPIP) after a small sample size... another thing weak players do is make the same mistakes over and over again, also they usually have a very bad mental poker game and often end up going on tilt, throwing away money/chips after what they perceive to be a bad beat...

The most informative sign is playing on emotions. Weak players often play emotionally, and their play resembles that of a player in a state of tilt. For them, position or hand strength is irrelevant, it is fundamentally important for them to compensate for their losses immediately.

Identifying weak players usually comes down to spotting those who aren't following basic poker logic. The biggest giveaway for me is seeing someone limping into pots constantly instead of raising; it shows they want to see flops cheaply and don't understand the importance of initiative
