Are Bonus Buy Slots Even Worth Spinning Normally?

I’ve been playing a few slots lately that have bonus buy options, and I’ve noticed something strange. At $0.20 per spin, the bonus feature usually costs around $12–$15 or Granny vs Zombies, but if you try to trigger it through normal spins, it can take hundreds of spins, and by then you’ve already lost more than the cost of the bonus itself.

It makes me wonder if these types of games, like Sweet Bonanza, Big Bass Bonanza, or even Granny vs Zombies, are actually meant to be played through buying the bonuses, since getting one naturally feels nearly impossible.

Do you guys buy the bonuses in these games, or stick to base spins and hope to hit it the old-fashioned way?

Hi Ron, good point.

It's actually illegal in my country to buy a bonus at the moment. So the casinos here with a license do not have the option. Though I see your point, buying a bonus is a way to empty your wallet faster then by just doing normal spins.

I'd say each provider has a different triggering rate for their bonus. That does not make them more profitable perse, cause the ROI stays the same.

Thanks for sharing that, Fallenglory. I didn’t even know some countries had actually banned the bonus buy feature, that’s really interesting.

You’re right about the ROI staying the same, it’s just the pacing and experience that changes. I guess buying the bonus just speeds up the process (and the losses if it goes bad).

Still, it sometimes feels like base spins are almost too slow or too “dead” on certain slots, like the game wants to push you toward the buy option. Have you noticed that too with any providers?

In my experience, I almost always end up losing money after purchasing the bonus feature.

I think the bonus system is just an alternative for a certain category of players. But I think most players will keep their traditional strategy (without buying bonuses). I play on slots this way.

No clue about these slots but i've heard that in retro sweets and/or retro tapes when buying super bonus probability to get the max win is 1/52 ...

I never buy bonuses. Buying bonuses is like buying flowers for yourself on your birthday. In my opinion, bonuses should essentially be a reward for playing the game, a free reward.

Hey Ron, you know I don't play Slots, but IMO, buying those bonuses is just another scam like side bets that increase the house edge.
However, depending on how much you can afford to lose and the size of the bonus you can buy, it could be a good idea to chase it.

Keep in mind that the odds to spin into a bonus are not a straight 100 to 1, The slot manufacturers run millions of simulations on the bonus game to determine what X needs to be applied to be profitable on it. Generally they are much harder to spin into, because you will win on the spins that don't spin into the bonus.

As a rule, spinning for a bonus is lucrative only if you have the bankroll to stomach spinning for it as it will take substantially longer to hit. Keep in mind - those options for buying the bonus are there to lure you in for a lot more money than a regular spin. It won't increase the house edge as most bonuses will have a RTP equal to that of the base game - but that edge is on a spin generally 100X the base bet, so it ends up being a lot more money quicker for them.

Mate, don't buy this junk. You're wasting your time and money. All this was invented by specialists who have only one goal: to get as much money out of you as possible. Better invest this money in something useful for yourself.

I have no idea about these coupons so I cannot really give you an advice but in general any kind of bonus is good to have in my opinion.

I never pay for the bonus round or spins . That takes away all the fun of the game . Also it can jeopardize your bankroll . I play normally and wait for the time that I will be awarded the free spins and round . I have watched many times streamers buying one bonus round after the other ,losing a tone of money in no time .

I don't play the games you mentioned, but as for bonuses, I sometimes buy them in other games, but this decision depends solely on my intuition and the amount of money left in my account :)
