Casino's Raffle Big Prize!

Have you ever witnessed anyone winning a car in a casino, or a similar big prize just by buying a $1 or $5 raffle ticket?

I haven't.
But at the Borgata, they used to enter all cash players' names into a kind of raffle during the afternoon and at 8pm, they draw for many cash prizes.
If I remember correctly, there were 10 prizes of $100, 4 of $500, 2 $1Ks and one $5k prize. It was very exciting.
I was with a friend once who was down about $300 when we heard his name after a $500 draw, it was very cool.

I can imagine the excitement this generates! Sadly, I’ve entered some raffles (on a cruise ship casinos) but have never won anything that way.

The biggest win I've seen was when a dude playing slots on ‘Book of Dead’ took home about $5,000. I haven't seen anything more significant than that. As for lotteries, I know quite a few people who buy them, but I don't know anyone who has won more than $150.

I haven't witnessed a big one, but we did win $400 once. Our local Indian Casino used to have free blackjack tournaments every week. And while playing real money tables before and after the tournament, you'd get a ticket into an hourly raffle. We had been there awhile, so had many tickets... So that was fun.

Years later at that same casino, they were raffling off a brand new Camaro - a beautiful car. We had just made it and reactivated our Player's Cards to get entry into it. They started the drawing, and called out Robert S... can't remember the name, but it started with the same letter and beginning sound of my boyfriend's last name, and his first name is Robert. We both looked at each other wide-eyed, like, "OMG NO WAY!!! " and then they finished reading the name that was not his... boooo!!! But it was exciting for about 2.5 seconds.

Yeah, exactly, it’s all about keeping people in the building. Those draws are smart marketing. Even if you're down, you think, “Might as well stay for the 8pm draw, maybe I’ll get something back.” And sometimes it works — like my buddy who hit $500 after being stuck $300. Gave us a little adrenaline shot and kept the night going.

Never saw anyone hit the $5K top prize, though. That always felt like spotting a unicorn. 😄

I started this thread because I remembered the many times I've seen a beautiful new car exposed, usually right at the main entrance for everyone not to miss, but I've never seen anyone won it.
At least, I was very close to have a "YES" answer here. Sorry Tammy!

I have seen a guy win a corvette in Vegas. It was pretty neat to see, it reminded me of the movie Vegas Vacation when Rusty Griswold wins all those cars.

Never won anything that big. I remember going to a club here in the UK. They have clubs based on Political Party, such as the Conservative Club or Labour Club.

One Christmas, we went to the local Conservative Club. I went with a few family members. Anyway, the story...................They were doing a meat raffle for Xmas, so there was a Turkey as a Prize, and the main prize was a Fortnum and Mason Xmas hamper, and lots of other prizes.

Well, as I was under 18, about 12 I think, I could not buy tickets, but someone bought me a line of 5 tickets.

The draw started, and the 1st prize out was the Turkey. Then it happened, my number was pulled out. Luckily, my Grandmother was keeping an eye on my tickets too. So she picked the tickets up and said she had won.

We were talking at the table, and someone went and reported it that I had the ticket and I should be disqualified. We thought we knew who it was but nothing came of it. I was relieved, or more embarrassed about it.

Then came other prizes, one of which my Stepfather won. Of course, all the calls of "Lucky table" and "same old faces" started.

Come the final main prize, and another one of my tickets hit, and my grandmother claimed it again. There were murmurs, etc.

After that, I could wish the ground had swallowed me up.

Anyway, it was a good Christmas as we had already ordered our turkey from a local farmer, so we were eating Turkey for about a month,

But I have to say that the guy who went reporting you was a real AH.

I've never won a car, but one time when entering a casino, I bought a 10 game Keno ticket and then went in to gamble.

At the end of the night I was up a little, and on the way out I checked my Keno ticket and I had won around $2500.

That was amazing!!!! At the right time too .
You could've probably gambled some of it away if you saw it earlier than "Time to go home" .

We were interstate and my missus isn't a gambler, she was enjoying the cocktails during the night. On the way out she spotted a little black dress that she liked in one of the retail stores, so I bought it for her.

After a nice, surprising win like that, I'd say she deserved it and you did the right thing .
