Are Modern Casinos Still Linked to the Mob?

I think it’s no secret that in the 70s, U.S. casinos were tightly linked to the underworld, especially the Italian mafia. They controlled many major casinos, particularly in Las Vegas. I’d strongly recommend the classic movie Casino it’s based on a true story if you’re interested in the subject and enjoy gangster films.

My question is: over the years, big corporations have mostly taken over casinos, but do you think the mafia has been completely wiped out from the industry, or do they still control a lot from the shadows?

Well I think if it wasn't for Bugsy Siegel and his crew Las Vegas would not be what we know it as today,

there's also an interesting movie called Bugsy about the history of that time, I don't think the mafia has influence

there anymore but there's a cool place in Las Vegas about the mafias history there called The Mob Museum 👍

They probably are. I don't know really. What I know is that I like this movie "Casino" that you linked. Had the DVD years years ago and watched it many times.

The days of the Vegas casinos being controlled by the mob are over, they are now controlled by the stock and bond holders.

Some of the small local casinos may have a bit of crime influence, but regulation is pretty rigorous in most locals these days.

Of course they are.

The difference being now, the mob own legitimate businesses, and from them they own casinos, hotel complexes and all sorts of gambling and entertainment businesses.

Of course they have been completely wiped out, all they are controlling now is "The big corporations", that's all.

But that movie is one of the best mafia movies I've seen. I definitely watched it more than 5 or 6 times. And now, you made me want to watch it again .
