Let's be honest - there really isn't much strategy in the actual game play of slots - whether online or live, but there is something to be said about knowing where you're playing (the online or live casino), what type of slot you are playing, and how to maximize your bets for the biggest jackpots when they do hit. So let's get into it! For our purposes here, we're going to go over Online Slots. You can find all this info, and more on our casino.us Slots Page.

Types of Slot Games

Knowing online slot types is important to understand, as it can impact your gameplay, strategy, and jackpot amounts!
  • Free Slots: Just what it says on the package - these are free to play, without you having to risk any money. They play exactly the same as regular slots, except that these are just "for fun".
  • Vegas Slots: These are online slots that have live counterparts in land-based casinos. Games like Wheel of Fortune, Triple Red Hot 777, Cleopatra, etc. You can play your favorite live casino slots online at reputable online casino sites.
  • Real Money Slots: Again, just what it says - real money slots have the player putting their money on the line. Anywhere from penny slots to high-stakes.
  • Progressive Slots: Usually the most popular, progressive slots give players more chances to win. Each bet adds to the progressive jackpot that grows until a player hits the winning combination.

Do Your Homework
It's always a good idea to do your due diligence and go through a vetting process before deciding on which online casino will get your action. Sites like casino.us has done the heavy lifting for you in this regard, with their extensive review process, but it's always a good idea to verify the info on your own. Here are some things to look for:
  • Bonuses and Rewards
  • RTP & Variance
  • Gameplay Experience
  • Mobile Optimization
  • Jackpot Values

I've spent a ton of money on slots in my life. In recent years, I could spend whole days spending time and money on book of ra. I hope things will change for the better now :)

I only play slots on 888 Poker with very low amounts won before in freeroll tournaments. Mostly book of death and book of scrolls. There are settings to adjust but in the end its just luck no matter what you do.

All I know is that you need money to play slots. Because those damn machines are real gluttons :)
I play slots, mostly on 888 or GG. On weekends, with a couple of bottles of beer.

First time I stepped inside a casino I played slots simply because I didn't know how to play any other game. Its all about luck & was a boring way to loose money for me. Have never played slots in a casino again. :ROFLMAO:

So that book slot wasnt generous at all or yes

Not sure whether you have actually tried that but according to some myth instead of "spend whole day spending time & money" it is actually more useful playing for few hours (very) late in the evening and/or in the middle of night cause that way slots seem to be generous enough to hand out money other players "invested" earlier during the day ...

Also havent personally tried such myth out but slots seem to be (extremely) generous when you are playing them when your battery is about to go dead (have like 15% or less remaining) - i have seen too many individuals doing so over the years and hit nice amounts so clearly it cant be coincidental ...

Yeah, I agree, and that was me too. Then I learned how to blackjack. Much more fun! And then poker, and well...the rest is history!

Slots have pretty much only one function - to give one that 'Pick me up' dopamine burst of fun and excitement. Possible win is simply an additional bonus.

In real life casinos things come a bit more troublesome. Some of the games are designed in a way that you keep feeding your money in and at some point the game is so "saturated" that it is only a question of time before it pays out a big win. Maybe not as much you have put in it but a nice sum, at least from a bystander's perspective.

And this is where things start to get ugly (or so I've read). According to some sources there is an "industry" of real life bum hunters (slot vultures) who lurk around these slots and pay close attention to them. Once they detect a machine that is filling up and going to pay out soon they start to pressure/bully/distract/trick the player who is currently on that machine in order to take over it themselves. Then they simply continue playing until the slot (very soon) pays out big.

But to me this is just another reason to keep playing from the comfort of my home.

I have identified one very important factor for myself. This factor is to stop, get up, and leave at the right time. It's difficult, and it has always been difficult for me. But only when I found the strength within myself to “get up and leave” did I achieve positive results on those days. Learn to “get up and leave” at the right time :)

It’s always fun to play a real slot machine in a casino. Pressing the physical buttons feels more exciting and hearing the winning sounds makes a special atmosphere that online play just can’t match and you get the full experience of being surrounded by other players and sharing the excitement when someone wins.

The best way to earn money on sluts is the sniper method.

Not the method in itself, but putting up YouTube videos on how to win with the method.

I guess sometimes people walk away from real opportunities when they have hit a bonus round, free spins rounds, jackpot rounds, or something similar, either by mistake, or they have to run to the toilet or a flight. That is +EV.

Hi :)
I think the most important thing before playing is to determine the amount we can afford to play for. And if the player is disciplined, the game will definitely bring them pleasure, and maybe even money. If you don't spend more than you can afford, such entertainment can be a nice distraction from the routine of everyday life.

I think the main thing is to control your emotions. If you control your emotions, you won't spend more than you can afford, which in turn guarantees that you will have a good time and won't suffer any significant financial losses.

I think the most important thing is to remember that slots are entertainment. Entertainment that should bring pleasure first and foremost. If a player starts the game without any false expectations, primarily for the sake of entertainment, then I think he has a chance for a good prize :)

Like I said in the General Casino forum, I get uneasy with games I can’t control—slots especially (unless it’s just play money, of course). But now that CardsChat is teaming up with casino.us, who knows? Maybe I’ll learn a trick or two about this game of pure chance.

And hey, maybe one day I’ll finally hit that elusive jackpot… then you’ll never see me leave the machine! 🎰😂💸

These are important points. I don't spend money on a lot of things other people do. For example alcohol - I might drink a few times a year - and it is probably free when I do lol. I rarely go to movies. I don't go to expensive sporting events - but do like to go to Atlanta United games. We rarely have expensive dinners.

So my entertainment money goes to blackjack and slots. I never expect to win at either so when I do it is a bonus.

With my addictive behaviour, slots are way toooooo fun. I remember the first time going into a casino. Only had a few bucks to burn, but wow it was so exciting. I still prefer the handle to pull, which are way harder to find now. Now just sit there pushing a button. Not quite the same.

One time I was in Dominican Republic and we found a casino. Looked around for a few minutes and found my slot machine. "Slots for Dummies"...within a few minutes I walked out with $300 US. Was a great time.

  • Gameplay Experience
I've been trying out a bunch of online games and I've noticed there are really only a few types/varieties of games. That's good in that it's pretty easy to figure out what's going on. But, from a gameplay experience point of view I think I'd like to see a lot more variety. From what I can tell the same applies to casino games.

Yeah, I agree. For me, when I dabbled around with the online slots, I could not figure out how/why I would win when I did. Just a lot of fun sounds and pretty graphics...so for me, I'd rather play them live, but really I would pick blackjack or video poker instead (or actual poker in the poker room).

I never expect to win at either so when I do it is a bonus.

The words "expectation" and "entertainment" are key when it comes to any form of gambling, especially with Slot Machines.

When entering a casino, people should know what they are there for. False expectations only bring sorrow afterwards if things happen to go south.

Most casino games provide entertainment, a lot of it. That obviously costs money. So why going in with the intention to win? Why not going with a certain affordable amount and consider it as "expenses". If you lose it, it'll feel normal, and you'll still be happy for the good time you had. But if you happen to win something, that happiness will be probably doubled. Winner winner...

As to the slots, the 1st thing one should know is that they generate about 75% of the casino's profit, that alone should indicate how much edge the house has over the players.

The machine does pay off some nice prizes and even huge jackpots (rarely), but only after having "swallowed" way more than the equivalent of those amounts. I'm not sure, but the odds of hitting a significant prize is probably like the ones of hitting the lottery. So, only spend the amount you intended to have fun with, enjoy free drinks and go home happy 🍹.

I have to admit that there is something so enticing about those flashing lights, corny sound effects, and fun animation. But I am too frugal to play a game that is so heavily stacked against me. I have played a few times, but only (as others have said) after accepting that the money I'm spending is likely going to be lost. I'm always amused by friends who have "strategy" for playing slots.

But the addictive aspect for slots is satisfied by playing free online slots. That way I won't lose any money, and playing them has taught me how much more likely I am to lose than I am to win anything.

The house almost always has the edge, look for the Progressive Jackpots, if the jackpot is very high then its a good time to play.

Remember they built the casinos by people pushing the slots buttons over and over.

That's very interesting with the progressive jackpots!!!! I'm going to look into it and the next time I see it I'm going to play exactly this slot.
