Why doesn't the casino have a window? The absence of windows (and clocks) in casinos aims to create an immersive environment that disorients customers to the passage of time, encouraging them to stay and play longer, thus spending more money. Without the perception of day or night, and with total focus on the games, the goal is to maintain players' attention without distractions from the outside world.

The lack of visual reference points like sunrise or rain prevents customers from getting distracted (immersion) and losing focus on the games.
Players have no idea how much time they've spent inside the casino (sense of time), prolonging their stay.
By feeling "isolated" from time and the outside world, people tend to stay longer playing (Incentive to pending), which increases the potential for spending money.
Casinos are designed to control all stimuli, maintaining a visually consistent (controlled environment) and appealing environment for players.

Yes those so-called "houses" definitely know every trick in the book to keep you as long as possible in their accomodation. First time I hear about the Windows though but makes total sense.

I am told that most businesses,in this country at least, do not post large signs in their front windows informing customers that the store across town has the following items at much cheaper prices, go figure.:mad:

Very nice post. No one thought about bringing up the ways of keeping people inside and blocking their visual sense, making them lose the notion of time.
An important thing has not been mentioned though, it's what keeps people from getting tired.
It's known now that all modern casinos pomp oxygen into the air through the ventilation system. And it works. I've never felt tired or needed to sleep when I'm in a casino. Once, I played from 9pm till 4pm the following day without realizing it.

I thought it was just some kind of exhaust fan or air conditioner, i've never heard of that.

Actually, I'm so sorry man. I looked it up and it turned out to be NOT TRUE. I've always heard about it and had no reason not to believe it. They only keep the air chilly ;).

"I'm sure you’ve heard the myth that oxygen is pumped into casinos to give people more energy and keep them awake. This is, in fact, the enduring Vegas myth of all time. There’s no doubt that the casinos keep the air chilly to give that same effect, but there’s no mechanism actually pumping extra oxygen into the system. If this were to be true, a major problem could ensue – since pumping oxygen into a room would increase the flammability of the air."

Sorry again.

Perhaps it's to maintain their own status and increase their value, even because more sophisticated establishments prefer to adopt this approach. I've noticed this in upscale malls. I think it's standard practice, you can observe.

On this level, it seems disturbing to me. It reminds me of the literal prison for pleasure, like in the film Brave New World written by Aldous Huxley, in which there was a kind of spray of "soma gas" (something like laughing gas with an anesthetic effect) to make people happy and solidify the spirit of conformity.

I guess it's the use of chips. When you're holding chips instead of cash you feel less guilty losing the chips. 🐒

Yep! It's like using a credit card instead of cash when you choose to pay with this method. Psychologically, it's easier because digital money reduces the "pain of payment," creating a feeling that money is infinite and less real, which can lead to higher spending.

For sure casinos fo many things to make players play undistracted ,to forget all worries of the outside world , relax , play for fun , play recklessly . Free drinks is one of them . Of course it's legal , it's not sth wrong , I mean they font drug people to play more or anything else strange . If sb had discipline , he won't be carried away do easily with free drinks or food or no windows or many lights and I don't know what else .
