Do you notice a signature or distinct scent when you enter a casino or hotel?

What is your favorite scent and can you say where the location is?

Is the odor floral, earthy, fruity or leathery?

Does the scent actually make you think of something? Happy, bold, trusting...etc.

Only stink that comes up my nostrils is the booze, sweat and other bodily odors. I believe they call it Eau de Oops.

I usually pay attention to smells, and I admit that this can somehow influence my choice of hotel, casino or other establishment. I would hardly want to spend time in a place that smells unpleasant :)
I think my favourite scents are woody aromas.

Of the few times I've been to a casino I smell like a hospital, I don't know how to explain it, and of course some smells specific to people, such as alcohol and cigarettes

TBH, I've never noticed any special scent in any casino, especially the nice ones you mentioned. But alcohol, cigarettes and sweat all blend with ladies' different perfumes to make a weak stomach want to throw everything it holds.

Its usually a scent that is calming like vanilla or honeysuckle. They want to keep you calm while giving off an
illusion of luxury.

Its the same kinda thing as the music.

lol I have never been in a casino 😂 but if I ever walk in and do a large inquisitive sniff… you are in BIG trouble, PeterMike 😆

Curiosity is half the fun though, right?

Guys - if I wasn't clear about my post - the signature scent is often right when you walk into the building or check-in lobby.

Because they use a scent that they want you to like but also usually provides a subtle emotional reaction....like "home" or "trust" or "warm".

I have heard of real estate agents - when showing a home for sale - will bake chocolate chips cookies in the kitchen and let the odor float through the house.

Who doesn't want to buy a house that smells like chocolate chip cookies??

Still waiting for a casino that smells like chocolate chip cookies right when I walk in! LOL

Some places can certainly be described as such, and they are very memorable. Just like the lights and sounds themselves, aroma is also an essential part of the sensory experience. It enhances the atmosphere and directly influences the acceptance and desire to choose one place over another, generating a positive experience.

I remember two very good places, just as there are others that make you want to avoid them. Besides the perception of the sensory aspect, which is essential, there's also the issue of climate control. A very strong air conditioner in the hotel reception area, for example, can cause enormous discomfort, making the experience quite unpleasant.

I read somewhere that there’s a whole field of study dedicated to the characteristics of scents and their effect on shoppers or customers in shops. I think it’s called scent-marketing :)
