What do you think about casinos that charge for parking?

I remember going to Las Vegas in the 1990s when parking was universally free, buffet dinners were $10, and hotels didn't nickel-and-dime you with $50/night resort fees and $26 bottles of water from the minibar in the room.

Now, nearly every property on the Las Vegas Strip charges for parking. Granted, it's not much at $20-$30/day compared to the cost of the room, but when do you finally say enough is enough? Do you think casinos on the Strip should go back to how things were done in the past?

I think times have changed so much that things will never be the same again. What was is now in the past. Everything changes, and unfortunately not always for the better.

Even if we would want that, it's kind of impossible. In about 10 years from now, you'll see things you don't see today and so on. Call it evolution or whatever you like. The arrow of time only goes in one way.

They could charge people who are just using their parking spaces without going to the casino but i disagree on charging their clients.

That's absurd & would have to move to another casino. It feels like a scam specially because I have not seen any casino that charge clients for parking (but I have never parked in LV too). LV is not planning to charge also for every drink including water in the casino, do they? I would imagine its not in the best interest of the casino to turn away any potential gamblers.

They could provide free parking tickets in the casino if need. Gamblers are entitled beings!

Of course, 30-35 years ago everything was different :)
But we will never return to those times.
It would be nice if parking were free, but the reality is that you have to pay for parking.

Yes, I would also like parking to be free. And I would also like utilities to be free, and for steaks to grow on trees :)

Las Vegas as a whole has completely shifted away from catering to value-conscious travelers on a budget and now it seems that nearly everything is exorbitantly priced with junk fees everywhere you look. This is currently the #1 discussion topic on Reddit right now:

I never been there before but I am kind of glad I would have to Fly in :) and to answer your question, it would be really nice if people didn't nickel and dime us anymore.

Especially now that it is wayyyy past nickels and dimes!

The times we live in now are completely different from the past and unfortunately things will never be the way they used to be. Everything is becoming more expensive and these days you have to pay for almost everything.

Yes, in 20th century a working man in USA could afford a big household, big family, multiple cars and so on.
It feels wrong. Free parking should lead to the situation when client spend more time in a casino. Subscription model everywhere is a big evil also.

About 30 years ago, I had my own parking lot for 32 cars. Next to my house, there was a plot of land that I developed, and for about 15 years, I rented out parking spaces. Those were good times. Now there is a huge building on that site. And there is an underground car park, where, unfortunately, I no longer have a space.
You have to pay for everything in life, including parking :)

I think I read that casinos do everything to lure , attract new customers to play at their property . Free food , free drinks , maybe some| free entertainment . But they can't afford the free parking ?? Lol

Well business is down by a lot in Las Vegas, ... for several reasons,

one of them being everything is too expensive....,

doubtful they will learn a lesson though🤔

Other than a one week trip to Vegas every year i play in Connecticut and New Hampshire. They don't have paid parking at their casinos, unless of course you choose to use the valet in Connecticut. In Vegas I don't rent a car and use Uber/Lyft and the monorail along the strip.

Yeah they definitely need to be careful not to shy away their customers. Rake is already high enough basically everywhere and other games are with house edge so i doubt they really need that parking money.

To be honest, I think things like food, drinks and parking should be free of charge. You come here to spend money, but they want to charge you as much as possible and don't even try to hide it.

I only play online, at least for the last three years, I haven't been to a casino in person. Although, I must say that most of the casinos in my city have free parking. But even if parking were paid, it wouldn't cost more than $5 here.
