**2009 WSOP Main Event Discussion** (Caution: Most likely has spoiler news within)

The main event starts today; players will certainly be posting updates on Twitter, etc.

So... let's keep all the thoughts in one thread for cleanliness/sanity. Who's going to win the ME? A pro? A Jerry Yang?

Here are the highlights
July 28 -- 8-10 p.m., ESPN WSOP $40,000 Special Anniversary Tournament

August 4 -- 8-10 p.m., ESPN WSOP Champions Cup Invitational

August 11 -- 8-10 p.m., ESPN Ante Up For Africa Charity

August 18 to October 6 8-10 p.m., ESPN WSOP main event episodes 7-22

October 13 to Nov. 3 -- 9-11 p.m., ESPN WSOP main event shows 23-30

November 10 -- 9-11:30 p.m., ESPN WSOP main event final table

Crystal Blue is running it. For a $5.00 entry fee you get to choose two ME players. If they outlast all the other chosen players then you win the prizepool. They don't have to win the thing they just need to last longer than all others picked in this event. gogogo.


Oh, and if you want to play more than two, you can. For every increment of $5 you can pick two more players.

I don't got monies but if I did they'd be on Hellmuth and Matusow. Most consistent in the ME in the last 5 years.

I want a good final table. ESPN Classic has been running poker all night. One of the Omaha finals from 2005 had Cunningham, Ivey, Hellmuth, Williamson. Would be nice for some pros to have a good ME.

Yes, its in place to stop/minimize collusion/softplay.

Interesting to note that Day 1D is definitely sold out and they're actually turning people away - they're not accepting alternates or anything else.

With exceptions for guys like Patrik Antonius and Sully Erna from Godsmack, naturally.

Congrats to Ivey for the early jump to 70k. Hyper-aggro with a stack is going to be a force to deal with. I'd like to see him go deep for sure.

He'll get some TV time this year. Didn't he cash the last three years? idk about 08 but I'm pretty sure it was 06/07 for back to back ME cashes.
