Big pots due to AA, KK, QQ..

I have been in a few pots with some loose players where there were an unusual amount of great starting hands held by the players in the 9 handed game. This made for some very big pots. This happened recently again and I was holding suited connectors and made a straight flush taking in a nice win.

Has anyone had a similar experience.

Yes, I had this happen to me last week in the 1st hand of the game. AA & KK slow played against my 8-6 suited. Flopped str8 flush and they both went all in ahead of me. 9 high str8 flush takes it down! Seems to be a lot of players that think AA or KK should always win. lol

Suited connectors are great for small multi-way pots but not so good for large hu pots.

I have seen it happen live, and there is a famous youtube video of it happening in a high stakes game, and everyone winds up shoving!

This is bound to happen a certain percentage of hands. It is pretty rare to see for isntance, AA vs KK vs QQ, but if you play a lot online seeing this once or twice a month is pretty standard. Don't start thinking you need to fold kings and queens because you're "sure" your opponent has aces. However, folding kings pre-flop might be a good idea in rare situations(especially when it's a multi-way all-in and you're deep into a tourny). And laying down queens preflop is something a good player may do from time to time. It really all depends on playstyle/preference of you and the information you have on how your opponents play.

When it comes to post flop folding Kings, queens, and even aces should be something you're doing somewhat frequently. If you have pocket queens but the flop comes 10-10-K and your opponent leads out, there's a pretty good chance u may be beat in this situation and you'll need to use your best judgement.

Yesterday I played two tournaments at the same time came to both AA. On one I get on another I lost 10 7 cards were 10 3 4 5 6

I made straight flush (clubs) but it was on play money.I had 8 9 on(clubs) against AA QQ and AK everybody were all in an the flop was 6 K 7 (67 clubs) and turn T (hearts) and surprisinly another T (clubs)

this happens so often if you have deep stacks expecially in cash games these suited connectors generally are the hands that make you big money when people can't lay down big pairs at 1 2 games people generally just stack off these spots and you have good equity pre vs AA KK cause of stack ratio and these types hands also help you balance out your range greatly

This is implied odds at work, the value of suited connectors and small pairs when they improve they can often win large pots. And this is why the value of these hands go down in value as stacks get shorter because you cant win as big of port.

It's because you're too loose or they clearly played it badly! When i get AA's KK's or QQ's i go all in pre-flop so i won't get suck out by those types of hands! It's better for me to win little than to commit and lose to weak hands like 8 6 suited.

If i see more than two players all in pre-flop before me the changes of winning drops and I'll most likely fold depending on the range of cards my opponents play and how the flop usually play!

Things like this happent to me also really often and it is really hard to predict if enemy have better hand.

I've been through it too, I was away, I came around giving all in, AA, JJ, 1010, QQ, the JJ player made a Crack, then he and I left the table with a pre-flop in a straight flush for me, he came with everything in a table with 9 finalist, was only 3, in that pot I took 3 million chips

I have won and lost many pots like that. Last night my aces lost to a set of threes. Once I won a big pot with a straight flush.

Yes, I had a similar experience and I have seen many times that the loss of hands is like suited connectors, hand draws and small pairs. The more players involved in the distribution, the less chance of victory for monsters and very strong hands .. I met distributions where 9 out of 9 people at the table had pocket pairs, even this happens and in this I do not see anything unusual)

Yeah, statistically, these pairs win far more than any suited connectors. That's why you can limp or min raise to build a pot, then drop the hammer on the flop to charge drawing hands.

I play super agro local game with ton kamakazis and man have seen this happen and man a 50 cent one dollar game that night it always plays like much larger game but that particular night cards were racking AK AA KK QQ seen thatt like 5 times that night was shaking my head but many some people walked out that room with 5k stacks in that game was crazy the opens were like 30 preflop then and whole table would call an open as stack to pot ratios were so skewed was crazy

Why would you want a small pot with suited connectors?

A small pot pre-flop, relative to stack sizes, so that your implied odds are high. I want to get in cheap with suited connectors- they usually don't win. Whenever there's a multi-way pot, I want to get in cheap, because I'm probably not going to win.
