The title says it all. For me I am strictly a tournament player, I just think the feeling of being the last one standing is one of the greatest feelings of success.

I only play tournaments. I tried cash, but could not get a feel for the game. I might pick it up one day, but I will just stick with tourny for now. There is just a difference there that I can't grasp at this time. Wish I could.

Cash games.....increasing antes/blinds/time restrictions, IMHO brings in too great a luck factor by forcing you to play hands OOP or that are rags.

Cash plays much more deepstacked than tournaments, so 1) it has less variance and 2) pre and postflop spots are tighter and more complex so that you can use skill to profit more frequently.

That said I really like shorthanded (6max and shorter) hyper turbos, because they're super fun and relatively easy to play so it's so incredibly easy to get retardedly massive quantities of volume from them.

I prefer cash tables to tournaments because the people around me lose a lot of money at cash tables and it's complicated. :D

cash or tournaments

I really love that thrill in a tourney and the big money at the end of the tunnel but I hate the variance. So I think it would be cash you don't have to devote as much time and energy to see a profit.

I find myself perform better in tourneys, but my current schedule only allows me to play cash games where I still have mild success.

I like them both, I like the lower variance in cash games and the pay a little to win a lot in tournaments.

but the cash game has to be 6 Max and the tournament has to have a good structure and slow rising blind levels.

I'd rather play a tournament any time. I like the fact there is a start and an end to a tourney and everyone starts with the same number of chips. Cash games can be influenced too much by bankroll.

Cash games 6 max because they are the hardest type of format apart from HU and you can develop your skills as a poker player best there to take to any format.

I like tourney's too but they have to be 6 max regular speed, however I sometimes get bored playing them and donk off all my chips.

That's why you have BR management and different levels...

I find this interesting. It might be true, but I actually find 6max harder than HU, and FR harder than either -- mostly because the more players at table the less often it's correct for me to play a hand and the more I underestimate postflop ranges.

And also, it is hella tough to play a tough/laggy FR table because every pot is multiway and you have zero pot control. And even multiway in a passive table your postflop decisions are more complex than they should be vs fish, because you're multiway and your odds of cooler go up.

Tournoments !! Bigger donks and easy to cash the minimum. If you have a small bankroll you can get some serious money with them if you win!

I like both. I play more cash cause I can do shorter sessions. If I need to stop earlier than planned, no problem. If I have the time to play a tourney, I do like playing. I played only tourneys for a while then only cash. I am only just starting to get comfortable with being able to change my approach depending on which game I play.

I never mix-- play both at the same time.

There is more excitement, to tournaments, cash can get tedious at times. Tournaments can make you sick to your stomach still. I was doing my best in the Carbon 25k guaranteed, 18 left and had slightly over a million chips. I get aces on the button and I 3 bet a middle position raiser, and he 4 bets jams 10s. My God mode was over, and he flopped a set, went out 11th that pretty much crippled me to 10bbs. I thought I was final table bound for sure, and the thought of that hand still makes me sick.

I still play more cash then tournaments, I think if we had the tournament schedule like pokerstars and full tilt days, I would play more tournaments.

I prefer cash games mainly because of the freedom to get up and leave whenever you want. When you're in a tournament or multiple tournaments it is such a commitment, you have to dedicate the whole entire day to it. I like to live a more balanced life and do other things besides just play all day long. I enjoy being active and sitting in a chair the whole day to try to win tournaments when I can make more playing cash games anyway isn't usually too appealing to me. I'm actually at the wsop for 6 weeks right now and have not played a single tournament, just cash. I'm debating if I should play the main event or not. I think that could be fun and a rush for me since I play tournaments so rarely.

That's probably on of the most ridiculous things I've read today.
