I think that great wisdom is not necessary, but wisdom is always useful

the world is filled with rich numbnuts, so no you won't necesarily need it but with high IQ I guess you'll always have an edge over ....let's say not so gifted people

Interesting question, I hope some of those people who are really talented and successful in poker appear and let us know, I didn't think I could answer this since I haven't been a winner of great things in poker, I would like to know what it is really the secret to winning a lot in poker.

I believe yes, cause you need to be able to built several street parties up, and observing in a great way. But in general IQ is something which is developed, same goes for becoming a great poker player too. :)

There is a German saying: “The dumbest farmers have the biggest potatoes.”
And often this applies to not only poker,
IQ or intelligence is not directly proportional to luck or social status or any other possible “possession” in life.
It may help, but it is only one small piece, and you have more than this one.

I think an open and calm mind is necessary. And without IQ it's hard to dominate everywhere. In order to win something, an effort is necessary, if your head goes it will be useful, no one can say that it has nothing to do with IQ. We cannot give in to chaos.

Hello Friend. Yes, luck defies any rule and you have to be born with it, while others have to beware of this advantage of opponents.
Good luck!😉

I don’t know about a high IQ but from what I understand from my experience I can say that patience is what you need and to pick your time to play … some well placed bluff and for sure you will start winning

Good IQ is good to have in poker, as well as in everything else. It is essential in chess, unsure if the same applies for poker.

Sometimes lack of wisdom is equal to no limits attitude.
IQ is supportive to read game, other's ranges and so on.

I think poker is more about emotional quotient, although it seems to require a mix of reason, emotion and luck

Acumen and intelligence are also important for poker players.
But sometimes luck destroys all plans and strategies.

What you need is a good study plan and follow that plan with a lot of discipline and work... anyone can be profitable at poker, they just need to dedicate themselves.

Now players use solvers, and many other programs, I think! this is not correct, old players did not use this and achieved results, and now everyone knows them

The best poker players have mathematical, interpessoal and emotional intelligence. You don't need to be a genius, but have some skills in these ones.

I'm in shock. My jaw has hit the floor.

Anyone noticed that one of the attributes of winning players is that they are smart (definitely above average intelligence)

You don't have to be a math professor, a genius, or a super smart guy to become a professional gamer. First of all, you need a desire and willingness to work hard every day, and to go step by step towards the goal. Moreover, I even think that the IQ level is not as important as, for example, perseverance and patience of the player.

Certainly not. Of course, wisdom always helps, but there are many players who say they were always very bad at all subjects at school, including mathematics.

The point is that effort and study can lead anyone to be a profitable player.
