Does anyone play fixed limit Texas Hold'em anymore? It used to be very popular and in in some states was the only game allowed. Now it is almost all no-limit, or the fixed limit game is way to pricey.
I play in a home game that has been going on for 20 years and it has always been fixed limit. We tried a bit of spread limit, but that got confusing as the guys got older, so we just upped the limit and stuck with fixed limit.
If you do play fixed limit, do you have any tips for beating a very, very loose table where we frequently get 5-8 (out of 8) players putting in their $1 bet to see the flop.

I guess online you can play on pokerstars. Most other sites don't really offer it. As for live, most casinos or poker rooms I go to don't offer it anymore. I don't know about Vancouver, Calgary. Some 10 years ago I played limit in Vegas. It seems to be the only place that offers it nowadays. It's a variant that was common some 20 years ago, but players prefer NL, so that's what casinos offer.
As for beating some very loose players at low stakes, I don't think you can do that anymore. Even if you have aces, how much can you really raise to get the off their hands? They will follow with any two and if 5 players follow with any 2 cards, your aces will get cracked. So either you play NL or increse the limit quite a bit so that it gets more expensive to play weird hands. Just my opinion.

I've never played fixed limit. In general, to beat loose players the idea is to tighten up and focus on playing more premium hands as hard and as expensive as possible. You can also play more speculative hands because you are priced in to see the flop cheaply. Then play hard if you hit hard, otherwise fold. You have been playing with this group for a long time, so you should have a good idea of the other players' tendencies and be able to take advantage of that. Overall, I hope that you are able to have fun at the table (since ultimately a home game should be a source of fun).
