Fixed limit or No Limit, that is the question!!!

Simple question I guess.

When multi tabling cash games, would you suggest fixed limit or no limit tables?

About 10 tables at a time

Low limits - up to $20

There's a lot more suckouts and beats at FL and if you can cope with that cool, if not, and you want the best hands to win with correct bet sizings then nl all the way....

I was more so thinking that in FL making a bad decision will not make as major a dent in your bankroll - especially multi tabling.

Last night, for example, I was 8 tabling and as always seems to happen, I was delt good hands on 6 at the same time.

In the frenzy I called a bet in error. If that had been NL I could have been in all sorts of problems.

Play what you enjoy more. If there's a significant difference between your win rates, than that might have fair weight in the decision. But if it's a small difference - how much is small is subjective - then you may decide the prospect of making a bit more per hour isn't worth playing a game you enjoy less.

I usually seem to make the wrong decision at the wrong time, so I mainly play fixed limit. At least that way I don't lose my whole stack. I really wish I could afford a tutor. Oh well , I need to remind myself I play out of the love for the game not to make a living.

Aint gonna lie, when I play live, if you can get a table with people who arent looking for the HIgh hand of the hour or cracked aces deal but somewhat younger people playing, I love playing limit as its im my BR and you can make a little and win a little but NOT LOSE YOUR ASS usually. If you can get in a game where 3-5 people enter a pot and will drop out, the game is fun as hell, the minute a table goes old (meaning family pots 10 in everyhand ) and they start talking HMM ill see every flop its only $1 then its time to get up and leave as the game just become bingo

For me fixed, cause I lose my ass in NL... Thats just me. Lots of bluffing in limit though. I get bluffed off the pot a lot. Not no more though.

That works both ways though - in NL you have the chance to make a bunch of small mistakes and then maybe win the money back in one big pot. FL is actually less forgiving of mistakes in that way, because you're much less likely to get that single big win and that makes it harder to make up for your mistakes.

Which brings me back to my original point - there is no one right answer. Play whichever you're best at.

When you look only at the best of the best at each variation- fixed limit players have the lower variance and NL players have the higher bb/100.

It's your call with no right or wrong. Personally I think NL is the more fun and profitable game to try and master.

I don't think you should be playing 10 tables if you are unable to determine which game type is for you..

I think you should drop to one table, play both respectively over a large sample and then choose which one is better suited.

Getting opinions of others will be totally irreverent because it's such a personal choice.

Again..if you are making bad decisions and thinking because it's FL it wont have a major dent in your roll. You're so wrong, over time this will accumulate at such a high rate..This is where good FL players make their money through people making those errors decisions on a consistent basis.

Why the obsession with wanting to play 8-10tables if you don't know which game type is for you and you make mistakes regularly ?

I think you need to play and learn all aspects of the game and try not focusing on paying so many tables.

I think you should play whatever game you feel comfortable with. Many people make alot of money from fixed limit although personally I prefer NL

As has been discussed though, there's a flipside to that - you also can't get lucky and win an entire buyin in one hand.

Plus while you probably won't lose an entire buyin in one hand at limit, you can definitely get bled slowly and you will be bled slowly if you're not good enough to beat the game. Reduced variance / influence of luck actually counts against you if you're not a good enough player.

I play fixed limit cause I just get sucked out in NL, at least with fixed limit if a donk is chasing I can bail out and minimize the damage done to me, with NL I get an all in donk and Im ass out.

fl is better for beginning as it is more mathematical.u play ur cards more than ur opponents.but nl is more fun(for me)

Looking back I think the question has confused ppl...

No offence taken ramdeebam, but I am a more than competent winning player in MTT`s and SNG`s.

I can play either fixed, pot or no limit and I am better at or prefer fixed Stud H/L. Pot O8 and NLHE - so any does me.

I am looking at playing so I gain more FPP`s and was interested to know if there is a prefered game for multi tabling FL/ PL/ NL

If the answer is basically, it does not matter, that is great
