I think its both. Micro tournaments include lots of gambling. High buy tournaments include more strategy. It depends of players.

Classic question. I think it's pretty clear that it is a skillful strategy game with an element of luck (therefore gambling).

Most recreational players believe it is a game of almost all luck because of their short term view. They have no concept of how long or how much variance can affect results.

It is strategy, until you reach to river and everything is ruined. I don't consider myself much of a gambler so it is not about gambling for me at lest. I guess some people get something out of the gambling aspect, but gambling and money is not the core reason for me playing.
