Is poker just a hobby, a job, or something more for you?

Hey guys
I just wanted to share some thoughts. Lately I’ve been noticing that poker has become more than just a game for me. It feels like a habit now — when I start a tournament in the evening, my mind immediately switches into a different mode. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don’t, but the whole process is what keeps me hooked.

What about you? Do you see poker as a hobby, a job, or maybe just a way to relax and clear your head? Would love to hear your perspectives

Only for entertainment purposes…online, I play with money I win in freerolls…I have gone from zero to over $1000 three times…usually I up the stakes to increase the excitement and play till it’s all gone…then I start over again…when playing live poker, that means I’m usually on vacation, so it’s something to enjoy while my wife goes shopping or to the spa.

It's just a hobby. Online I play mostly freerolls. From the posts I read on this forum I think it's mostly recreational players. The professional players are a very small circle and you might not find them here. Also, they might not have a lot of free time to spend it here. That being said, you can still use this site to learn and get better at poker. They have an interesting learning module and you get some VIP chips for completing it. Also you get access to restricted freerolls depending on your level. I find those interesting to play to improve your game. It's mostly people who are genuinely interested in poker and in getting better at poker. You have less of the jamming all in with random 2 cards, compared to the rest of the freerolls available.

I think it's a combination of both. I see it as a hobby that occasionally gives me some extra money. There are months when I make more money playing poker than with my regular job.

For me, poker is more of a hobby and a way to spend my free time. I usually watch YouTube while playing, just to keep things casual. Right now, I'm saving up for a new computer, and I'm hoping to win most of it through poker, so that's why I play pretty often in the evenings. Once I get the new setup, I think I’ll play less poker and focus more on modern games with better graphics.
