Poker is like Chess, but with Hidden Pieces

Chess is a game of logic.There is no luck involved and all information are given to both players ,mistakes are punished.
Poker is a game of chance,luck is involved and not all information are given to players,we must guess what is on other hands and unfortunately mistakes can be rewarded.

I couldn't say that, because I've never played chess, but I don't think they're similar.

Playing against a top chess player, a top poker pro would have as much chance at winning as a high school football team would have against the Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles. An old senior citizen with heart disease and never having read a single poker book or studied videos has a decent chance to finish ahead of poker pros in any given tournament…I should know…I did it in 2019 at the wsop Colossus event…imho, poker and chess are miles apart, like comparing a McDonald’s burger to Filet Mignon.

Я всегда думал о том, насколько покер похож на шахматы, но есть одно огромное отличие: в шахматах все фигуры видны, тогда как в покере большая часть игры скрыта в неизвестности.

Обе игры требуют стратегии, терпения и умения просчитывать ходы на несколько ходов вперёд. Но в покере вы сражаетесь не только с картами, но и с неполной информацией, эмоциями и человеческой психологией. Это делает игру ещё более захватывающей.

Каждая ставка — это как передвижение фигуры по доске, иногда жертвуя чем-то незначительным ради более важного плана. Каждый блеф — это создание иллюзии, заставляющей противника видеть то, чего нет.

Для меня покер — это интеллектуальный вид спорта, в котором логика встречается с неопределенностью, и это постоянное сочетание мастерства и удачи делает его гораздо более захватывающим, чем любая игра с «идеальной информацией».

Как вы думаете, покер ближе к шахматам или, может быть, к чему-то совершенно другому?

I don't think so! poker and chess are not exactly the same! these are 2 different disciplines!!!

I think chess and poker are alike, just like baseball and socces. They are both sports. Where you have to train your body and skills.

In poker and chess you have to study too to improve, the game itself and ranking is very different. In chess there is little to no luck, there is an ELO system to determine your skill level. Poker is way more luck based, somewhere between 50 and 90% according to most players. Hence it's harder to measure how 'good' you are.
