Staying motivated in poker, especially when results aren't coming, is a challenge that almost every player faces—or rather, everyone faces! It's natural to feel discouraged after bad sessions or a losing streak, but it's in these moments that your mindset can make all the difference.

Remember that poker is a long-term game. Focusing on the process, and not just immediate winnings, is key. It's important to set smaller, realistic goals or even challenges that motivate you to play.

Taking breaks, meditating, exercising, or simply disconnecting from poker for a few hours can help clear your mind.

Motivation is undoubtedly important. But what's more important, in my opinion, is discipline. After unsuccessful sessions, a weak player lacking discipline will want to recoup and move up to higher limits. Discipline is important, but motivation also plays a significant role.

Anyone can stay motivated when things are going well, but the real edge comes from how you handle the downswings.
Proper expectations and motivation comes naturally.

Focus on the process, not just profit, understanding that variance is part of the game; study and review your hands constantly to improve; maintain emotional discipline to make rational decisions even during tough periods.

We all, at least I think, go through this at some point. It's incredible how the App's algorithm senses the player's desperation and ends up only showing bad hands, causing the player to sink deeper and deeper.😅

Reviewing hands is a habit I need to acquire! Unfortunately, I can't seem to make use of this crucial skill for improving my game!!

Good reflection, man. This is something that affects everyone at some point. One thing that has helped me a lot is truly accepting that variance is part of the game. Sometimes you’re doing everything right and still the results don’t come and that’s okay. The hard part is not letting it affect your confidence.

But the player needs to be extremely cool-headed to not let it affect him. Man, I lost a hand yesterday with a pair of AA in my pocket, with a flop of QA7. I lost on the turn to a flush of T8. I got so pissed that I went all in and was eliminated near the bubble.

That's true, brother. In theory, everything is beautiful, but when we find ourselves in a bad beat, it's difficult to deal with, especially when we play correctly and lose with extremely strong hands.

Evaluate yourself based on decisions, not results.
Set controllable goals.
Develop a deep understanding of variance.
Actively take care of your mental state.
Build discipline, don’t rely on motivation.
