I've learned that a 5% probability is very significant, especially when the the thing that will happen 5% of the time is important, like the odds of a serious health impact from a surgery.

Before poker I thought 5% was basically inconsequential. It's not - it's very real.

It's better applying what you learned from life to game.

When things going well or looks good, it might change to worse anytime. Like when you hit top set or straight on the flop later end up cracked by flushes, full houses etc.
At that point you're best, it looks guaranted but there's always two more cards to come and some people willing to risk it all for that probability. So you can't be in a control of anything everytime, it's the most common thing among poker and life.
