What is Your Goal When Playing Poker?

Many poker players do not have a one goal when start poker,what would be your goal?
some say they are only playing poker for relaxing moments, and have no goals or dreams of being a great poker player,I play poker for more than 9 years, and I really like this game, after all you put your mind to work at every turn, to know what your opponent has, in the end you even look like a master of the divinations
many say poker is only lucky, others say poker is strategy, and some say poker is just a game where you're stolen all the time,I believe poker is the 3 things at once
It's lucky when you won whit nothing
It's strategy when you play correctly and win
it's theft when everything seems to work, but at the end comes the wrong and you fail
some call it stealing, I call it variance of the game

It's all of the things that you've listed. I know why I play, but I must admit it's often a mystery why a lot of other people play. For many, there seems to be absolutely no intention to even try to play skillfully. Maybe that's because it seems easy at a glance, but in reality, there's actually a lot more to it.

Poker TV is probably a big reason for this. They often only show the really outlandish and crazy plays near the end of a tournament while ignoring the hours and hours of solid grinding that it took to get to the last few tables.

My goal in playing poker is getting more emotions, learning new strategies, and interesting timing. I'm often playing after work in evenings.

When you have plan on the game you can easy follow it. In the end to overview your game and to estimate how far/close you was from your plan. Self-awareness is only way to move on.
