I'm not sure. I always thought it was brought about because the donks tend to be the workhorses/donkeys at the beginning of a tournament. They play crazy, knock a bunch of people and themselves out, and keep the tournament moving at a pretty high rate of action for awhile.

Poker karma, right, protogirl?;)

It's funny how upset that players get when they get sucked out on by a donk, forgetting that they have probably had their fair share of donk moments, too!

Everyone does something donk-like every once in awhile, even the professionals. Anyone that says they've never made a donk play isn't telling the truth or is suffering from VERY selective memory.

It's the players that don't do anything BUT make donk moves that stand out.

Only person who might have started it and still uses it is Mike Matasow
LOL...if you look closely at the way he talks with his grinding side to side ways...he reminds me of a friend of mine when he's on coke....(not the liquide but the powder)

donk - donkey..., the horses´ ugly sister..., believed not to be too smart.
Used not only in poker, and in more languages than only english, to say just that..., so why not in poker too?

I don't know but I wish they could change it to something a bit more offensive. That way maybe the donks would stop being whatever the new name was.

I think whiners are a bigger pain in the butt than any donkey. I play live 3 to 4 times a week and I've made it pretty obvious I think the people that cry donkey are wussies and soreheads.

It's funny that the whiners, almost all the whines I hear, are at the free taproom poker, not the cash games on the weekends. Which means that they, the weak players, are the cherished, to be succored at all times.

I learned the word "donk" from reading the Cardschat forums hehe.

In my opinion, whoever came up with it did a nice job of making it sound not that bad (there could be much more angry words or acronyms/abbreviations :))
