Harrington on Holdem is the one Jason Somerville always recommends, but honestly in the modern day, online resources are going to be so much more worthwhile for learning. Free sources like Gripsed on YouTube, and Twitch streamers are great, and paid sites like Tournament Poker Edge will give you more bang for your buck, in my opinion.

Getting started in hold'em from Ed miller is a good book for beginners i think.

Getting past beginner stage should read Harrington to get to intermediate - Harrington on Hold 'em

Getting past intermediate should read Miller - several others like Kill books, Snyder's TP Formula, Gus Hansen.

And throughout read and reread The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky

Beginners should really not read Ace on the River, Gus Hansen, Haynie, Tendler - all good stuff but don't start there.

I think its not so much from which book to begin with, but to not stop reading, there are many books out, and the more u have read, more complex your game will get. But also its not only to read, but to practice too, with experienced players

Books may be little help, but I believe that a man must have half the talent of half a chance I'd be successful and of course money for payment

I totally agree with avengelos,
practice what you learn in the books you'r reading and it will help your game a lot.

If ever you easily lose focus or get bored reading and your new to poker, you can always try the training software Ace poker drills.

Thanks for the recommendations of these books. I will try to read some of those mentioned.
I have read to Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth of all the books we can learn something.

I love Harrington's books but also picked up a book by Negreanu to learn more about small ball. Gotta mix things up a bit
