Coverting Deep Stack to Normal SNG/MTT

Hey, my first post!

Any tips on this?

I seem to have better results when playing a deep stack SNG or MTT than when I play a standard stack.

As for turbos - dont event get me started.

Only just begun playing properly and cashed in a freeroll and just won a 90 SNG. But really early days and just starting out really.

There are too few deep stack tourneys - how do I tweak my game to adjust to normal games. Do I increase my starting range?

No, dont increase your starting range. Tournament poker is more about surviving, so in the beginning you should be very carefull with taking coinflips.
Its also often better to take a small safe pot, than to chase a bigger pot that can get you bust.
But dont adjust too much, you still need to take risks at times, but just remember, 2 opponents going all in vs each other is Ev+ for everyone else.

Oh wait, I read your question wrong, you want to compare deep stacks tourneys to more shallow tourneys.
I would still be carefull, a hand like KJs is an instafold to me. But maybe you can see more flops with small pairs, or 67s when someone has raised in front of you.

I'm in the same boat as you: I started taking the game a little more seriously just over a year ago and really enjoy it. Welcome to the forum! I just joined yesterday myself.


You sound like a decent judge of risk and you don't have much of a problem getting paid off for taking those risks. In my opinion, it sounds like you might be tightening up your play just because you have a standard or short stack.

Is that about right?

Yeah possibly - not sure what it is but have far more joy when I have some chips to play with.

Must be a quirk with my style of play - not a fan of the push and hope you find at low levels?

Practice I suppose? But any tips would be great
