In tournament poker, understanding the starting hands and positions is essential to playing consistently and increasing your chances of advancement.
The position
Position is one of the most important factors in Hold'em.
First positions (UTG, UTG+1): I played only strong hands (AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK).
Central position: can expand the range, including AQ, AJ, TT, 99 and connectors suitable for strong ones.
Final positions (CO, BTN): where you have more information and can be more aggressive. Here two hands like KQ, KJ, QJ, medium pairs and even bluffs.
Blindes: I played with caution, as he will act first post-flop.
Initial hands and patience
In tournaments, patience is key. The chips are limited and every decision is important. Avoid fringe hands at the beginning, such as K9, Q8, or weak offsuit A.
Focus on hands that can actually build big pots. As the tournament progresses and larger blinds, you can open up more range to steal blinds and start.
General strategy
In the beginning: I played tight and valued strong hands.
Not half: increase aggressiveness as the battery allows.
In the final stretch: position is everything — attack the short players and defend your stack.
