How do you manage your bankroll as a beginner?

Hi everyone! I’m still new to poker and trying to build my bankroll slowly.
I usually play freerolls and small buy-ins, but sometimes I get tempted to play higher.
What are your rules for bankroll management when starting out? How strict are you about it?

Hi! A good rule is to only risk about 1–2% of your bankroll per tournament, and avoid playing higher buy-ins just because it’s tempting. Stick to freerolls and low stakes to build a solid base first. It takes time, but that discipline really pays off.

the rule for taking shots is to not use soo much of your bankroll that it forces you back a step. Example you play free rolls and $1 buy-ins you have 50$
If you risk 30$ then the frequency of busting becomes very high 20 MTT without cashing is easily done especially when we first start. that puts you back a step to freerolls only

so you want to look at your own bankroll and determine what a reasonable risk would be.

If by the way you are young and have access to good freerolls then risking your bankroll is less of a problem if the bank roll is small. In that case you should be taking shots at higher MTT so long as you have the skill set to be successful.
