One of the biggest mistakes poker players make is ignoring bankroll management.

Even good players can go through losing streaks because of variance. Without proper bankroll management, it is very easy to lose everything.

Many experienced players recommend only risking a small percentage of your bankroll in each tournament or cash game session. This helps you survive the natural ups and downs of poker.

Discipline is just as important as skill when it comes to long-term success.

Do you follow a strict bankroll management strategy?

Discipline is one of the most important qualities a poker player can have.
Even when you know the correct strategy, it can be difficult to follow it all the time. Sometimes players get bored, frustrated, or too confident and start making poor decisions.
Good discipline means sticking to your strategy, managing your bankroll responsibly, and knowing when to stop playing.
Many professional players say that discipline is what separates winning players from losing players.
Do you think discipline is more important than pure poker skill?

Yes, discipline is often more important than pure skill. Even great players lose if they can’t control their decisions.

I completely agree with you. Discipline is a key factor in poker. Even players with strong technical skills can lose if they start making emotional decisions or playing too many hands.
Sticking to a solid strategy, managing your bankroll properly, and avoiding tilt are all part of good discipline. In the long run, players who stay patient and controlled usually perform much better than those who rely only on skill.

You make a very good point. In poker, bankroll management and setting clear goals are extremely important. It’s not just about playing the game, but about having a solid system and sticking to it.
Many players focus only on the action at the table, but without proper bankroll management it’s very easy to lose everything during a bad run. Having limits and knowing what stakes you should play helps protect your bankroll.
Also, staying focused on your system is key. Sometimes when players win for a long time, they can become bored or overconfident, and their level of play starts to drop. That’s why discipline and consistency are so important in the long run.

Yes plus,
I mean, if it’s just about the money I prefer to play black jack instead of poker
, I just double up my bankrol, and reach some smal goals etc etc..
but if you like the way for winning at poker you need more than just love the money, you need love the game tho and your system you need to love , your decisisions, the luck you need to love everything about the game even the losing part sometimes,
that’s why I love playing poker
if it was the money I play other casino games with close to 50% of winning chanse and just double the bet til you win one .
so my Disipline advice for poker is love the game when you want to play a session …
if you keep hating the luck and your system what ever you loose more and you have bad feeling After session also.
if you keep love the sessions you play, you wil win more and have nice feeling after sessions.
I wish best of luck to all grinders out there 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Bankroll management is the only thing standing between a winning player and total ruin because the variance in poker is a mathematical certainty that will eventually crush anyone playing above their means. If you do not have at least twenty to thirty buy-ins for cash games or over a hundred for tournaments you are essentially gambling with your survival and letting a single bad run of cards dictate your entire future in the game.

Yes, I try to follow a disciplined bankroll strategy, especially after learning the hard way how fast things can go wrong without it. Now I stick to limits I can afford, avoid taking unnecessary shots, and move down in stakes if my bankroll drops. It’s not always exciting, but it keeps me in the game.
For me, bankroll management is as important as any technical skill. It gives me peace of mind during downswings and helps me stay focused on making good decisions instead of worrying about losing everything.

Bankroll management in poker is very important, perhaps the most important factor for success in the game. Never hesitate to lower your buy-in if you have less bankroll than recommended.
