It happens sometimes
You have AK/AQ/KQ etc & you know that you clearly have the best hand preflop, but as soon as that flops comes its just small card etc, it's very frustrating and annoying tbh, but it's part of poker

It's not rare, it's most of the time since you only hit the flop 1 out of 3 times in average.

Good morning everyone.

In online poker, the standard is that, most of the time, you will miss the flop. This is completely normal and part of the game.

On the other hand, it is not normal to never hit. At times, you will hit strong hands, such as a flush on the flop, three of a kind, or two pair. It will also happen that you hit good draws, such as a flush draw combined with a straight draw.

If you are playing many hands and still feel like you never hit anything, it may be a sign that you are playing too many hands or choosing weak starting hands.

In general, since you will miss the flop most of the time, the best players do not rely only on hitting good cards. They know how to bluff, understand the right moment to bet, and, most importantly, know when to fold.

The secret of poker lies in this: not playing only with your own cards, but also considering the community cards and the possible range of hands of your opponent.

No, it's not normal... I'd highly advise doing a bad juju eviction dance, and getting yourself whole until playing again. You can thank me later.

I guess it’s normal — sometimes you just miss the flop. The important thing is not to lose too many chips when you miss, and to extract maximum value when you hit.

Sometimes there are bad sessions, where you can't get good hands and you can't connect on the flops, most of the time you'll have negative sessions, it's part of poker and you have to know how to deal with it.

Feeling like you never hit the flop is perfectly normal from a poker math perspective, especially when it comes to hitting top pair or better.

Hi everyone,
Sometimes I feel the same way. The most frustrating thing is when I fold my two hole cards and the board gives me the win. I also very frequently see players win with their trash cards that they decided to play even though the players before them raised and reraised... that also exasperates me.

It happens to me quite often. Poker is a game of chance. Everyone has to make their own rules according to their own luck.

To be clear and direct about the percentage of "hitting a good hand" on the flop, in both Texas Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), it's important to emphasize that, since poker involves a lot of randomness (especially on the flop), the odds are fixed and don't depend on "player luck," but rather on the starting hand you have.

The most common odds are:

With any pocket pair (e.g., 88, QQ, AA):
Chance of flopping a set ≈ 11.8% (about 1 in 8.5 times).
This is the most classic "good" hand in Hold'em with pairs.

With unpaired cards (e.g., AK, AQ, 76s):
Chance of flopping a pair ≈ 29–32% (almost 1 in 3).
Chance of flopping two pair ≈ 2%.

Chance of flopping straight (with suited connectors) ≈ 1.3%.
Chance of flopping flush (with suited) ≈ 0.8–1%.

It really depends on what you're trying to hit with and what exactly you're trying to hit! For example you are way more likely to flop a pair of aces than you are to flop a flush or full house.

It’s variance doing its thing. One day you miss everything, next day you can’t stop flopping top pair.

It feels like that sometimes, but yes — long stretches of missing the flop are completely normal in poker.
You only connect with the board in a meaningful way about a third of the time, which means two‑thirds of the time you’re staring at air.
When variance clusters, your brain notices the misses far more than the hits, so it can seem worse than it is.
Every player, even the crushers, goes through these stretches, and they’re just part of the statistical rhythm of the game.

You can gamble on the fact that people will miss the flop 2/3 of the time if they have a drawing hand. Good luck picking up those pots where the opponent puts you in those tough spots.
