I'm playing micro stakes and I wanted to know if bluffing is effective or if people pay anything. How do you usually bluff in these games?

Tough to bluff when a majority of the player pool are calling stations. To crush calling stations one is suppose to value bet and bet more when they have good hands not bluff when you have nothing with almost no chance of getting them to fold.

The only player type you bluff at micro stakes are players that over fold, nits(when they stop betting) or the odd decent player(not many of these at micro stakes) who is capable of finding a fold.

Cheers!!!

You can't bluff players who think you're bluffing them.

I would say that bluffing at micro stakes is a form of conscious suicide, because if your opponent has more chips and calls, there is no other way out but to rely on luck. Leaving technique aside can be dangerous. Luck is important, but technique is fundamental in the game of poker.

There are specific spots where is possible to bluff at low stakes. But usually they are calling stations

In general: the lower the stakes, the more polarized the player pool.

So the weak-tight nits often overfold, so bluff them more often.

The loose passive calling stations should almost never be bluffed since they call too much.

Against maniacs, it is often better to induce a bluff if they are just stupid-aggressive. But if they have a fold button, they can be re-bluffed since they have such a weak range most of the time.

Like limit hold 'em, lower limits is largely about value betting. That doesn't mean you should never bluff. Having said that, you can see some horrendous calls at higher limits.

No, probably not, absolutely don't, unless you feel like yes, sometimes probably but most of the times no XD
Depends on the tournament structure, your stack, the player in the table, this is a very subjective question.

Bluffing is mostly done in the late stages, on the bubble, in the pre-finals you can play a million hands. But at the beginning of the tournament you need to play super tight. From my experience I can say that it is better not to bluff at micro limits. Or to do it very rarely in suitable situations, when you are sure that the opponent will definitely fold. The majority of players at micro limits will go to the river and we will only lose our money by pretending to be nuts.

The #1 reason to bluff is not winning chips--in fact bluffing a proper frequency is usually break even or slightly losing. TV shows have glorified the big bluff as a money maker -- when in fact to get to that point the player had to bluff multiple times and lost some of them.

So the #1 reason to bluff is to make sure your value hands get called. In micro stakes that is not an issue - often we can over bet and still get called--so we do not need to bluff any more often than 5% of the time. Only against the nits who over fold or other weak folding players:unsure::geek:

Of course you can, but you do need to pick your spots and the players you do it too. Every hand and every table is different.
