Playing two over cards on a dry board

there are a number of factors to consider whether you should bet the continuation and whether it makes sense on other streets if you are already behind your opponent's possible range

Are they in the blinds? Also you bet, not raise. if it is low and connected lean to checking as a general strategy. for boards that are 2 high cards 1 low, bet your entire range (small bet).

Post some actual hands, positions, stack sizes etc for better informed responses.

Do you have any stats on the guy? Cold Call range? what is his fold to flop c bet stat at?

Be more inclined to bet if:

** Flop is dry (low cards like 442 instead of 6h 5h 4h)

Reason: More likely you get a fold since fewer draws and made hands possible

** Opponent is tight and/or passive

Reason: Less likely you get check-raised or floated

** You have no showdown value

Reason: You need to bet to have a chance at winning the pot. With a hand like KJ or A7 you might win just by checking down.
