Why in this situation the pair A A wins if there are two pairs against each other.

You ended up with higher 2 pairs with AA & 77 beating villain's lower2 pairs of JJ & 88. Its the best five-card poker hand from any combination of the seven cards: the five community cards and the two hole cards.

Simple, 2 Pair Ace's and 7s beat Jacks and 8s, It is always decided on the Highest pair first and if you both have the same top pair then it falls to the second pair to decide who wins.
It is the same with flushes, If there is a 5 Card Flush on the Table and players at showdown declare the Flush then it is decided on the card Value, if each person has a Card in the same suit then it is the highest Value card if that card Plays.
Meaning if you have A,K, J,,9, 6, on the Table all Hearts and the 2 or 3 players at Showdown each Have a Heart in their hand It is only a Split pot if no one can beat the 6 but if you have one player with a higher card than the 6 then it's his card that plays in place of the 6 and wins the pot outright.
Highest card Value playing takes the Pot.

It's ok. It's ok. I know it can feel weird when your aces don't get cracked.

At least you were not the player with J8 possibly overvaluing his hand, because "LOL I have 2 pair". Its a pretty common beginner mistake to overvalue a counterfeited 2 pair hand also sometimes jokingly referred to as the "3 pair hand". In this case his two pair were technically not counterfeited, but it was still not a great hand, since he not only lost to an overpair but also to any Q or 7.

maybe you didnt notice you also had two pairs, so your top pair being aces trumps his highest pair

as mentioned above, you have two pairs of AA 77, so you are older than the other two pairs, this will be easy for you to calculate in the future when you play more poker and you understand the combinations that consist of 5 cards on the board and the highest hand is collected, just be careful and study the poker combinations

I was thinking of you when I saw this hand today. All in pre-flop and I am pretty sure there is a very happy monitor out there somewhere that avoided getting destroyed.

You won because you have two pairs higher than your rival.

In this hand, it's 2 pair vs 2 pair, but you win as you have AA, the highest pair.

There are 2 7s on the board, so you have 2 pair: AA and 77. Your opponent also has 2 pair, JJ and 88, but AA is the highest pair out of all 4 pairs, so you win the hand. If it's 2 pair against 2 pair, the person with the higher pair wins the hand.

When I experienced similar situations at the beginning, I was frustrated that the computer made such « errors » in evaluation, and as the images changed rapidly and I didn’t know how to go back to the progression of the hand, I remained hurt until the day I decided te reread the official rules regarding this situation.
I understand you, and we are not the only ones who have felt such a « sense of injustice ».
Good luck, the best one!

Clearly answered several times above, so won't bother beatin that horse again. Wanted to commend you posting the question, very easy for new players to confuse rules and/or think you see something that isn't there. We have all been there.

I don't want to be repetitive, colleagues have already explained, two major pairs, you will always win two minor pairs
