Pot-Limit Omaha Hand Quiz: Choose the Best Play

To go along with our month long series diving deeper into Pot Limit Omaha, we thought we would throw the membership some questions. So, let's take a look at hand potentials in PLO. You have the choice to hold one of these two hands (hole cards):

Hand 1 is basically dead on arrival. Outs are to make the full house.
No way for a straight or flush.

Hand 2 has a wider variety of outs. for a flush. for a straight

With just the primary outs listed you have a much better chance of a made hand with hand two. For my money give me hand 2.

Hand 1 is strong here, and would beat anything except a 7.
Hand 2 has a lot of potential to beat hand 1 as it has a lot of draws, however if it does not improve to the river it will be useless.

I would go with Hand 1 because as it stands on the flop it is the strongest hand here, and it has 19 outs AAKKQQQ555444333222 than hand 2 which has 18 outs

Hey Ron, hand 1 does not have that many outs. The flop is already there and there are only 2 cards left to come, so the 5s, 4s, 3s and 2s cannot count as outs.
Unless I'm having one of those "dumb" times, in which case, I apologize in advance.

This is kind of a trick question. It ALL depends on betting. Hand 1 is usually going to try to get everything in the middle pre-flop because he doesn't want more than one opponent. Hand 2 is strong BUT may not choose to stay in long enough to see a flop, depending on bet sizing, interest of others and position..

If/once the flop comes, again it depends on betting and stack sizes. Hand 1 has the made hand but limited outs. Hand 2 has a lot of outs. Personally I prefer hand 2 but I've seen plenty of OESD/Flush draws never improve. Again, Hand 1 is going to try to get the rest of the money in the middle because he has no idea how strong hand 2 hit the flop.

Hand 1 is almost like having AK in Hold'em and missing the flop. It looked good to start with and after the flop it is circling the drain. With what Hand 2 got on the flop I fear that Hand 1 is going to be very disappointed if he tries to bet and scare off Hand 2. If I had Hand 2 vs Hand 1 and he made a pot sized continuation bet, I would go over the top of him and put him in for all of the chips that I could get in the pot. If I lose, so be it. Your goal is to get your money in with the best hand and if you are Hand 2 this is showtime.

it's also pot limit so no getting everything in pre,

would def want to see a turn here if I was hand 2,

really much easier to play hand 2 here cuz the

decisions are much easier......... hand 2 has to

hit those outs, hand 1 does not so the question

is how far am I chasing those outs...,

that depends on a lot of variables...

but since I wouldn't know their hand

I'm liking that flop a whole lot,

so my answer is "it depends"👍

The cards i listed are the ones which hand 1 needs, even if we do not count them as outs. For example, if the turn n river happens to be any of those cards that means hand 1 has won. The cards i have listed does not include a spade because it will give hand 2 an advantage.

The ultimate outs for hand one are A, A, K, K but even if 3 n 4 not of spade comes that will mean hand 2 has failed to improve.

There is no it depends on the options, come on...

Hand 1 is strong here, but has limited outs.
There are many times i have chaced those draws and end up beaten. There are also situation of amiracle river card for hand 1 after hand 2 has hit a straight or flush on the turn.

I don't ever think I've seen anyone chase that opponent away😎.....,

my answer is generally going to be "it depends", not a fan of hard and fast rules...

also not a fan of telling potential opponents specifically what I would do with an exact hand 😏👍

Hand 1 is too strong pré-flop, but in a flop like this, hand 2 is too favorite

Even tho its technically behind on the flop.

With all the draw % wise it's ahead.

Considering the number of outs, I would choose the Hand 2, but it is certain that I would also make an attempt with Hand 1 too.
Of course if there is a chance to watch turn and then river. The straight, the flush, or straight flush has a higher chance of getting an A, K, or 7. Although in online poker, these are that usually fall down in turn/river...

definitely hand 2, because it has more chances of being completed, more outs

Hand 2, way more straight and flush outs and I think better overall.
Hand 1 is not too shabby though with 6 boat outs that could potentially cooler a flush or straight

I think Hand 2 due to the flush, straight, and set possibilities. Some friends have suggested that "wraparound" (cards in sequence list 789T) hands are strong in Omaha.

Hand 2: I would choose this hand because in my opinion it has a better chance of winning than hand number 1.

Hand two has a good chance of taking down the pot if they hit.
Hand one has a fair chance of taking down the pot if hand two's cards don't hit.

But Hand one has a fair chance of getting all the chips if both hands hit (like King of spades, or AK7 on Turn and Spade or 69TJ on River).

So hand one if opponent had hand two.

I think hand two , you have draws , I think ot os better than AAKK . I am not good at plo , but this is what I would do . Of course ot depends on the action at the glop , the bets , in big beys maybe I would fold both hands at the flop

I think Hand 2 has better equity. A lot of odds to get straight and flush.

I would choose hand 1 despite the many outs of hand 2 which, due to the double 7, is seriously threatened by someone making a full house or even four of a kind.Now I have a question: would you feel comfortable with a straight or a flush on this flop?🧐

The on-line calculator makes the low had a very slight favourite, basically a coin flip, but as Lyle Berman said, more money has been lost with a pair of aces at Omaha than wom. The aces are ahead now but if the other hand improves in the slightest, he needs to hit an ace, a king or a seven. Unlike the other hand, he has no flush draw, so basically I would choose against the aces. every time.

I stick with hand number 2. simply because it has a better chance of ending up winning the hand.
