What are some of the most important things to learn about playing poker professionally? How does one get started with it?

If you want to go pro, the most important things are bankroll management, discipline, studying consistently, and having a strong mental game. Start small, track your results, study with solvers/videos, and slowly move up only when you’re beating your current stakes. Treat it like a job, not gambling

I think there's a lot of misconceptions about being a professional poker players. A lot of people think that means you make money. But you can also lose a lot of money and need to afford that, financially. The poker ambassador who has the most visibility is Daniel Negreanu. Yet, if you watch his vloggs from wsop this year and last year ( he posts his financial results), at some point he was down millions. He can afford it because there's probably other ways he makes money- representing GG brand is one of them. Anyone else starting out, it is difficult to have a very big financial cushion that can take losses in the millions of dollars.

I'm nowhere near being a pro, but from what I know, it's more about treating it as a job and about grinding rather than making emotional decisions. It's a lot of patience and bankroll management.
