I’ve been thinking about how important session review really is in online poker. Sometimes after a long grind, I just want to log off and forget about it. But I feel like going back and checking a few key hands could help fix repeated mistakes. Even reviewing just 2 or 3 tough spots might make a difference long term. I’m trying to build the habit, but consistency is hard. Do you regularly review your sessions, and if so, how do you usually do it?

Session review is one of the biggest separators between casual players and long-term winners.

I’ll be honest, even as someone who plays professionally, I don’t review every single session in detail. After a long grind, mental energy is low, but what I always do is mark hands during play. That way I don’t have to rewatch everything, I just review the key spots.

You’re absolutely right: reviewing 2 or 3 tough decisions consistently can make a huge difference over time. Most leaks repeat themselves. If you fix one recurring mistake, that compounds across hundreds of sessions.

Here’s the simple structure I like:

1) Review marked hands within 24 hours, not immediately if you’re tired.
2) Separate emotion from analysis, especially after big losses!
3) Ask: was this a range mistake, sizing mistake or emotional decision?
4) Write one short takeaway per session. Just one.

You don’t need a 2-hour deep dive every day. Consistency beats intensity. Even 25–30 focused minutes is powerful if done regularly. The goal isn’t to “relive the session.” The goal is to improve future decisions. Build the habit slowly. That’s how it becomes sustainable.
