Every poker player develops their own style, but two of the most common approaches are tight and loose play.

A tight player chooses strong starting hands and avoids unnecessary risks. This style is often recommended for beginners because it helps prevent big mistakes.

A loose player, on the other hand, plays many more hands and tries to put pressure on opponents. This style can be profitable but requires a lot of skill and experience.

The best players often adjust their style depending on the table and the opponents they are facing.

What is your usual playing style: tight, loose, or somewhere in between?

Neither style is 'better',the best style is the opposite of the table. If everyone is playing tight, I start opening every button. If the table is a bunch of lunatics, I sit back and wait for Aces.

Every player builds an image at the table without realizing it. Others quickly start to categorize: loose players, tight players, aggressive ones... This is why changing gears becomes an important. The biggest weakness in strategy is predictability. A player who always plays the same way is eventually easy to read. When opponents recognize the pattern, they start to make decisions against it. The greatest players are able to control the expectations of their opponents, so I try to vary my playing style.
