I might need a career change and since I'm single, and looking for a little more excitment, and love being in casinos I thought becoming a dealer might be a good move. However, I'm 46 years old and it seems like it might be an old age to start. I honestly have no idea. I have experienced a lot of agism in the tech industry and I wonder what it is like in a casino environment. Is this a good move? Please let me know your honest opinions and experiences. Thanks!

In my opinion, to be a dealer, I don't think that being elderly is an impediment, I think that attention, correctness, dexterity and impartiality should be the skills that characterize a dealer in a casino_Of course that's just my opinion.

46 is young! Just do it! You'll have no regrets this way.

I think if 46 is considered "too old" or heaven forbid "elderly" then we are all doomed....,

but yeah ageism is a thing.... along with all the other "isms", don't fall for it👍

Try it, I really don't know what work agreements at Casinos will be like, you should see what career you must pursue to become one and at what age do dealers retire

I would definitely go for it. Seems to me ike the sort of job where you can travel a bit, meet great people, and some idiots too no doubt, haha.

Just don't spend all your profits at your work place!! :):ROFLMAO:

from my experience, the dealers who screw up the most are the younger ones.

My opinion is that no matter how old a dealer is, if his hands work properly and he has dexterity and accuracy, it is ok.

My honest opinion: You are most certainly not too old to be a trustworthy dealer. Quite the opposite. You could be a dealer for the next twenty years should you want to. I do not know if it is an area with good job openings in. But I’d say - go for it!

I don't see why age would stop you being a dealer.

My sister thinks I'm a dealer because I have more than one phone 😂

With 10 years of experience as a dealer here in Brazil, I can say that I have worked with dealers of all ages, from 18 to over 60. If you learn the correct techniques, maintain proper posture, and follow a healthy diet and sleep routine, you can handle it easily.

The duties of a casino dealer include not only knowing the rules of the game and accepting bets. The specialist must communicate with clients - find a common language with all visitors and have restraint. He is also responsible for the money that is on the gaming table. He is obliged to keep records of bets and accruals of payments in order to avoid mistakes. It's not that simple. As a rule, young guys and girls, most often students, are looking for a croupier vacancy in order to earn extra money in the casino. When meeting an experienced croupier who is well over thirty, you should not jump to conclusions. As in any profession, the path to career growth depends on talent and development.

You are not to old to be a dealer. A fiend of mine with and trained to be a dealer at 52 and loves it. Been doing this for 11 years now. If this is what you want to do or try, go for it. Best of luck to you.

I had dealers that were waaay older than that.

Your best bet is to contact the casino to see what the job requirements are and if they're even hiring in your area.

I'd ask if tbey require dealer school as well or is it on the job training or something.

As long as you are capable of dealing the cards effectively and at a reasonable pace with a doubt you are certainly not too old. I have seen many people that are obv much older still dealing and doing a fine job. Good luck.
