How do I keep track of calculations in a live tournament?

When playing at a real table, how do I calculate my chips?

Keep your chips in stacks of 20, that’s the standard size for easy calculation. The pot size you just have to know how many players are in the pot and what the bet size is, just keep adding for each street. You get used to it after a while. Good luck!

The pot size you can estimate by multiplying how much you have put in the pot multiplied by the number of players in the hand.
It shouldnt be so hard to calculate the pot size.

what I think can be a bit more dificult is to know the stack the other players have, and then decide what pot % will be your next bet or call

For your own stack, have a consistent way to order your chips, like piles of 10 or piles of 20, and just count them sporadically.

For the pot size, I recommend against trying to calculate it. It doesn't sound that hard but there's pressure during a hand it's famously hard to do seemingly straight-forward but somewhat annoying things like recall preflop action and do some basic arithmetic. So don't. Just estimate it based on looking at it; the chips are all there. You will get better at estimating the net value of a bunch of spread-out or stacked chips with experience. Minor mistakes in counting will not break your game. If the chips are oddly placed, ask the dealer to spread them out a little. Don't worry about how that makes you look.

For other people's stack, ask them. Say, "how much are you playing", or "could I see your stack, sir?".

A good tip is to stack your chips in neat piles of 20 (or 10, depending on the denomination), so you always know roughly how much you have. For pots, you don’t have to count it exactly every time — just get comfortable estimating. With practice, your eye will get very quick at judging both stacks and pots

In a live tournament, chips are valued in blinds, so there are chips worth 1/2, 1/5 blinds, and so on. So you don't calculate your chips in monetary terms. You calculate them in blinds. This makes things easier.

Honestly you just keep playing. And use the time when it's your action to count. People will perceive this as you are thinking whether to call or fold or to do your action. It gives perfect reason to calm down and do completely separate thing. Rarely will anyone call a clock, but each time you will get better.

I struggled a lot at the start where I was like "SHIT I HAVE TO CALL OR FOLD OR RAISE CUZ IM TAKING TIME" now it's different. When it's my turn, I check and look at everyones chips and it's so peaceful.
