While both live poker and online poker can be played online, there are some differences between them.

  • Game Rhythm: Live Poker has a faster pace and is closer to the experience of an offline poker room; while online poker is relatively slower, players have more time to think.
  • Game Formats: Live poker usually offers more game forms and tournaments, while online poker focuses more on traditional poker games.
  • Player Interaction: Live Poker has stronger player interactivity, and players can communicate via the chat feature; while online poker has relatively less player interaction.

1. The fact that online poker can be played on the Internet is not new.
2. Whether you think online poker is slow is of course a personal matter, but I think 95% of players consider online poker to be a fast and dynamic game.
3. To say that online poker is more focused on traditional poker games is just nonsense.
I wonder where you got this strange description. Don't tell me you came up with all this nonsense on your own :)

Playing online is more convenient. A couple of mouse clicks. What will separate you from playing poker offline? Distance, the laws of your home country, sometimes you have to go to another country to play, living expenses, food. Even if there is a poker club near your home, you need to take a shower, get dressed, go outside to start playing. You can play online at home in the nude. There is more play online, more disciplines, more opponents. You can play at 16 tables at the same time.

I think it's completely the opposite, online is a game where we receive more hands and decisions are made very quickly.
I prefer online poker.

You definitely have a sense of humour. We need people like that. Welcome :)

For me live poker requires much more effort because you have so much more information and the whole time you have to worry about giving away information.

You make a great point about playing in the nude...I think that there needs to be poker rooms located at Nudist Resorts. I can't think of anything more appealing than being put to a difficult decision and squirming in your seat and crushing your own testicles...(totally TIC)

At online poker they rigg it in the algorithm.
At live poker, they cheat the cards distribution with physical hacking devices.

The biggest differences for me are speed, volume, and information. Online poker is much faster, you can play many more hands (and even multiple tables), which increases both learning and variance. Live poker is slower and more social, with more physical tells but far fewer hands per hour.

Online games tend to be more aggressive and strategy-driven, while live games often rely more on patience, observation, and exploiting common mistakes. Both require solid fundamentals, but the skill sets and pacing are definitely different.

As someone getting into poker it is also great to try diffent formats online. Getting a game together with friends is hard enough without trying to get everyone on board with PLO or something other than holdEm

The biggest difference for me is in live matches, because the contact with my opponent, where I can observe their attitudes and emotions during the game, makes all the difference in the final result.

Live poker has more physical reads; online is about volume and strategy.

In live poker you see people and can observe their body language.Live poker is played much slower, with fewer hands per hour.Live you get information from behavior, rhythm, and table talk.Online the information comes from stats, timing, and notes.Live you play with full confidence in your hand, while online you depend on the card generator!

I love the chat feature in live games. 🙃For me live games are more just for casual fun as I don't go play at casinos. Playing online is much more serious.

Online poker has smaller but ins at many games , so many micro or nano players can go there and play . I guess that's not possible in live events . But online there is the RNG , which is very problematic , the results and the action cards and hands are crazy .

Even though it’s technically the same game, live and online poker feel like two completely different animals. If you’re used to one, the other can be a real shock to the system.I think the pace of the game is the most jarring difference

I use to prefer online over live, but now I enjoy live poker more then live. Unfortunately I can't play with real money online, but do enjoy the team league. I been playing live now for about 4 or 5 years and it's been a lot of fun. I have conversations with some of the regulars, many of them recognize me now. I saw one of the reg's out in Vegas last year. We both came back with a little profit. I'm hoping to be able to make it out to Vegas again in June for the Colussus.
