Is it easier to make money playing online poker than at physical tables?

My opinion is that it's not easier, it's different. Online, you play more hands per hour and there's less physical reading of your opponent, but you gain in discipline and the use of statistics. Live play relies more on psychology and hunches.

depends on the player, myself I have done pretty good live ,tough to get in live games unless I go to the casino,so my sample size is much smaller then online,,find it much more rewarding playing live

I don’t think it’s easier, just different.

Online you play more hands and rely on stats and discipline. Live is slower and more psychological, with more focus on reading people.
Profitability depends on your edge and adaptability, not the format.

Online you can win faster if you’re very good, but you can lose just as fast if you’re not prepared; live poker is more ‘human’, but slower.Online players are generally more technical, use analysis software, and make decisions faster.Online there are suspicions, but in live games there aren’t.

I think that if we’re talking specifically about MTTs, online poker allows you to play 10–15 tournaments at the same time. That volume makes it more profitable, since you have more chances to run well compared to playing just one tournament, as happens at live tables.

So I believe online poker is more profitable, but that doesn’t mean live poker isn’t. In the end, it all depends on you, and a bit of luck too.

I would say, definetely yes, because at home you can relax in your comfort zone with a coffee, whereas on a live event you are restricted to the breaks and rules given there. Plus nowadays the online prize pools I would say from what I fell are almost as big as the offline ones, except for only the main wsop and other main events. So just relax, sit back, and start making some moneyyy yoo

I totally agree with this and I'd say that it depends on each person as IMO 2 poker players with similar skill level can have way different results for live and/or online poker... still, from my experience it's way easier nowadays to make money playing live poker, especially if you're someone that gets invited to very good home/private games...

many more games/hands that can be potentially profitable than live....you could play larger tournaments or cash games live and overall be more profitable that way...but there is no guarantee either way....like sports the ball can bounce anyway....like the runner runer straights i seem to run into constantly

As with most poker questions.....it depends.

Live should generally be softer at the same buyin level.

However, most would find it very difficult to multi-table live. So you can get a lot more hands in online, if your win rate was the same per 100 hands, you would be much better off online.

It's easier to earn money by getting a regular job. It's definitely easier :)
As for poker, whether it's online or live, it's difficult in both cases. But overall, you're right, online poker and live poker are different games.

It's easier online because there are more hands per hour, longer distances, which means lower variance, well, if the player is initially a plus player

Being able to play on more tables, it seems easier to earn money online. But then it depends, because you could also lose more.
