online poker has very different dynamics than live poker, mainly due to the speed of play and the number of hands played per hour. I think one of the keys is to learn to use time well to make decisions and not play automatically. It's also important to observe the betting patterns of opponents, as many repeat the same mistakes. With discipline and good bankroll management, online poker can be an excellent way to improve the level of play

I think the attitude to online and live poker should be treated separately, there are things that are profitable in one but not useful in the other.

Yes, I agree. Another advantage of online poker is that you can play on multiple tables simultaneously.

Well said. The speed of online poker really rewards focus and discipline. It’s easy to slip into autopilot when playing many hands, but that’s usually where mistakes start to pile up.

I also agree that observing betting patterns is a big edge online. Since players often repeat the same lines, paying attention and taking notes can be just as valuable as pure technical knowledge.

Online punishes small mistakes much faster than live. If you don’t have discipline, your bankroll won’t last at all.

Good points (y)

I also like online poker for the ability to improve your poker skills by playing what stakes you like/want and multiple tables at the same time... You can test so many things at lower stakes to see for example how the 'field' reacts in different spots - learning/studying is very useful, but practice is still the most important...

Online poker is about speed and efficiency with multiple tables. So I see it is more a bout mathematical and statistic skills. When playing live, it is social and slow and what you need is psychological eye. Sama game kind of but pretty different. When I started to play poker seriously, I actually found it surprising how fundamentally different games there is like for just hold'em; tournaments with different stack sizes, cash games, bounty formats and other variants.

I play 2-4 tables at the same time and I think that in most cases I play automatically, on autopilot. It's simple for me, I have my range, I have my position, and I have opponents at the table. My range depends on the stage of the tournament, my position, the size of my stack, and how my opponents are playing. During the game, I automatically change my play depending on the circumstances. But I have to say that I do all this automatically, on autopilot, and I don't think this automatism has a negative impact on my results :)

kkkkkkkkkk nailed it. Online players are easily readable most times. Your bigger problem will be the system itself trying to rob you.

Online poker is for those who want to play many tables and have a high volume of games; live poker, in my opinion, is more fun.

Online poker rewards speed, volume, discipline, and note-taking. Autopilot is fine if it’s range-based, but you must switch to full focus in key spots. Live poker is slower and more psychological. Different games, different edges.

That's right, online poker is a way to improve our game, because you play much faster and learn faster, you can play many more hands per hour and make decisions faster.
