On average, online players are stronger technically. The volume, tougher fields, and use of theory/HUDs force better fundamentals.

Live players rely more on exploits, table dynamics, and reads. They may be less polished, but very effective in soft lineups.

So online has the edge in raw skill, live excels in practical exploitation. Context matters.

They’re strong in different ways. Online players win with math and volume. Live players win by exploiting humans - fear, ego, tilt, boredom. Same game, different weapons.

Online players are more tougher and stronger vs live players easily and it's not even close. Because the avg person live can't easily hide their emotion and tells.

Cheers!!!

Since online poker is utterly rigged, I'd rather play live games.
But you'll won't be able to reach the same volume as online though.

Online poker and live poker are different disciplines. It's like comparing racing on car simulators with racing in real cars. They are completely different games.

It really depends. But overall I would say, playing offline requieres much more of you. So you learn more and understand more, which you can take then back into your online play if you play online. I don't think it works the other way around. Imagine a player going into an offline tournament for the first time in his life. Even if he played thousands of big online tournaments before, he will be overwhelmed - everything is going to be new - the chips, the people, the air. The food, the breaks.

These are different types of games. In live games, you can see the player's reaction during the plays, and in online games it's more difficult, but either way you can analyze how the player plays and see what the best strategy is.

without a doubt online players are better, due to the fact that they play much more than live, in live you play a maximum of 1 tournament in a day while online you can play 20 so the online experience is much greater

There are strong players in live poker. There are strong players in online poker. And the fact that these are different players is not surprising, because online poker and live poker are actually different games.
You ask who is the strongest?
Of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It all depends on the area in which you have the best reading skills.

I can't say who is stronger. But in my opinion, playing live is much more difficult than playing online. I think players who play online have to be more skilled and experienced. At the same time, however, the fact that such players perform well in live games does not mean that they will play just as well online.

Where?
We're talking about two completely different genres.
I think every player has a stronger side.
In live, you have to pay attention to a lot more things, you have to store stats in your head, watch your opponents' moves, etc.

But I think Chuck Norris is the strongest :)

I didn't know that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris were poker players. How many poker tournaments and wsop bracelets have they won?

Neither is stronger than the other. It;s just a matter of what tactics need to be used depending upon which game is being played.

I personally think live players are the only real poker players… I find online tournment play to be more about the software and how to tell smaller tells.. live is well live and anything can happen.

My take: online players are usually stronger technically, live players can be stronger situationally.

Why online players often have the edge

  • They play way more hands, so their fundamentals (ranges, bet sizing, math) get sharpened fast.
  • Tougher player pools force good habits—bad leaks get punished quickly.
  • Many study with solvers, trackers, hand histories, etc., so their game is often more structured and balanced.
Where live players shine

  • Live reads matter: timing, body language, chip handling, table talk.
  • Pots are usually bigger relative to mistakes—players overcall, underbluff, and misread spots.
  • Patience and emotional control are huge live skills that don’t always translate online.
The reality

  • Put a solid online reg into a live game → they often crush after adjusting to the pace.
  • Put a pure live player online → many struggle with speed, aggression, and variance.
  • The best players can do both and adapt quickly.
So if we’re talking pure poker knowledge: online players are generally stronger.
If we’re talking exploiting humans in real time: live specialists can be deadly.

I don't think this can be stopped comparing online poker to live poker, I don't know, but I think those who play live with people are stronger

Playing live is definitely more difficult. Playing live requires not so much skill as psychological readiness for a long and grueling competition with other participants. And this is what, in my opinion, makes live players more skilled.

I think live poker players are stronger, they need to be in the game, watch the other players, don't show too much emotion, etc.

Online players are technically way stronger. It’s just a volume thing. An online grinder sees more hands in a month than a live player sees in a year. While the live guy is waiting for the dealer to shuffle and listening to some guy's bad beat story, the online guy is 4-tabling and seeing every possible board texture and GTO spot a thousand times over.
