Are they just buddies? Part of some sort of team?

Most likely a coincidence if it is any kind of pop culture reference and it is one that’s very popular in their particular country of origin. Perhaps you could take a screen shot of it and do a google image search?

What kind of poker room was it in? Some poker clients (888poker, iPoker, GGPoker, ACR) have their own set of ready-made images for the avatar, which many use. Of course, it is not surprising that different people will have the same images ...

I have a widespread avatar, and the same ones are often found at the table. There was a case when at the table there were 3 more such players with such an avatar as mine.

Ive noticed on poker stars that lots of Russian and some other eastern european countries like Ukraine the players are using the same red scorpian custom avatar. Not sure what its about but im guessing it has some sort of political meaning involved somewhere.
