Beyond the moral question, poker is a multi-million dollar industry and exists in a kind of legal limbo in many countries. Is it better to ban it to protect vulnerable individuals (problem gamblers), or to regulate it to generate tax revenue and ensure fair play? What's your opinion? 🤔

I think it's better to regulate who can play poker and who can't, period. Banning it across an entire country seems like an exaggeration to me.

Many countries, this is obviously a matter for each country to determine.

That’s a thoughtful question, It’s Already Happening With or Without Regulation
Where poker is banned outright, it usually doesn’t disappear. It moves: Underground, Online via offshore sites, Into unregulated environments
Regulation allows: Consumer protection. Age verification, Anti–money laundering controls, Responsible gambling systems

Yes, it should be regulated, not banned: it generates tax revenue, ensures transparency, and reduces illegality.

That depends on the culture of each country; some don't like card games and consider them gambling.

Poker is a game of skill, strategy, and psychology and for millions, it’s simply entertainment.
When properly regulated, poker can be a safe leisure activity that generates tax revenue, creates jobs, and protects players through oversight and responsible gaming measures.
Banning it doesn’t eliminate it it often pushes it underground, where there’s less transparency and more risk.
The real question isn’t whether poker should exist.
It’s whether it’s safer inside a regulated system or outside of one.

It would be pretty weird for someone to be a member of a poker forum and think, that poker should be banned.

The main reason it needs regulation is for player protection. We need clear rules to prevent money laundering and, more importantly, to help people with gambling problems. If it’s 'underground,' there’s no oversight. Making it a legitimate leisure activity helps remove the 'shady' stigma poker used to have

Poker being legal, regulated and having a global player pool would be wonderful, amazing, and the best thing ever for players but sadly likely a dream that will never happen in most our life times if ever.

Cheers!!!

I think poker should be regulated rather than banned.

Proper regulation helps protect players, prevent fraud, and ensure fair games.
It can also promote responsible gaming and provide legal oversight.

Many people play poker simply as a leisure activity and for the strategic challenge.
Allowing it under clear regulations is better than pushing it into unregulated spaces.

hi all , I don't think either of those are options ,
1.vunerable individuals will always exist, banning poker will not solve anything. People will bet on which direction a bird will fly away if nothing else.
2. taxing poker and over regulation leads to banning in some countries already, and these "gamblers" will turn to worse alternatives...
3. Ensure fair play ..? how exactly are poker sites unfairly helping which players over others ? please enlighten me .... ;)

some of us already in our countries because either our govt want to tax our winnings (but obv won't cover losses) and all involved no longer offer
their services , paypal, Skrill, any bitcoin etc, then most of the poker sites, off the top of my head , 888, stars, william hill, GG , WPT, I've even
forgotten the rest.... I even plat the "Aviator" flying betting game.... it's bad and sad when there's less poker ....
