A few days ago I got a new phone and this one has a security feature that tells me when Apps read my copied contents.

To my surprise, when accessing 888poker, I learned that the App does exactly this - it reads clipboard content (whatever text or information you copied recently).

I haven't seen any of the other poker apps do this. Anyone else have this experience? Makes me wonder who has access to the information they are collecting. I copy freeroll passwords, for example, so someone could in theory be getting access to those.

I don't think anything too nefarious is going on here, apps have been able to interact with your clipboard for a long time now, maybe it's just more recent platforms letting you know it is happening and making you aware of it. I can see why they might want to look at your clipboard to help detect RTA and bot activity also.

If you are concerned clear you clipboard by copying something else after you have pasted a password and don't run 888 when you are doing anything "sensitive" like banking.

You could try looking at the app setting for 888 and see if you can remove clipboard permissions.

Can you expand on this? I am not seeing how clipboard content has anything to do with RTA and bot activity.

Can you reveal what phone is it?
I'm running F-Secure also on my phone but it doesn't pay attention to these things, or at least it doesn't mention them to me ;)

The clipboard can (potentially) be used to transfer hand/game details to RTA/bot software - I don't want to say any more than that and give wrong doers ideas.

I know that data exists in hand history. So a player would go into their hand history files on their computer and copy paste that. But on a phone?

I don't play on that platform! Even at the beginning, when you try to install it, the program asks you to grant privileges to your antivirus software to install the program. It looks like the Windows 11 operating system; it's incredibly hungry for data.
